Community Performance Series - CPS

Community Performance Series - CPS Community Performance Series is a college-community partnership that presents distinctive and renowned performing arts events in Northern New York.

Community Performance Series, a professional music and performing arts presenting organization established in 1989, is dedicated to serving the cultural enrichment and arts education needs of the diverse populations of our neighboring communities. The CPS Guest Artist Series has an established history of over 30 successful seasons presenting world-renowned artists in concert here in Potsdam. CPS a

lso presents events specifically designed to appeal to children and families through CPS Meet the Arts, established in 1995. We continue to augment our performances and audience services with outreach residencies in local libraries and schools, pre-concert talks, workshops, master classes, open rehearsals, group discounts, development of preparatory materials for teachers and collaborative ventures with other regional presenters. Our summer season includes musical theater performances.

The Washington Post calls composer, conductor, vocalist, and visual artist Raquel Acevedo Klein a “force to be reckoned with.” She recently made her Los Angeles Philharmonic conducting debut at Walt Disney Concert Hall and has worked with Rosalía, Florence + The Machine (including The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Everybody Scream), and Alicia Keys. She conducted premieres at Carnegie Hall and The Met, and performed with New York City Ballet, Sara Mearns, and the New York Philharmonic.

This season, she made her Broadway debut as Music Director for the Tony Award-winning Illinoise (Sufjan Stevens). Her debut album Adrianne and the Castle (with Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry) is out on Sony Music, and she performs with the Grammy Award-winning Roomful of Teeth.

Her work spans Lincoln Center, MoMA, the Guggenheim, BAM, and Radio City Music Hall, with features in The New York Times, The New Yorker, and The Los Angeles Times. Recent projects include a NASA- and European Space Agency–backed immersive work using James Webb Space Telescope data, her MoMA exhibition Meta/Physical Therapy, and NYC FREE, a four-week festival for NY PopsUp.

Her audience-interactive vocal symphony Polyphonic Interlace layers 40 recorded voices activated by the audience in real time. She has also performed and recorded with Bon Iver, The National, Grizzly Bear, and Sufjan Stevens, and is currently commissioned by Opera Philadelphia to write her first opera.
