•’Open Studio’ today (Saturday) 11-3, Sunday 11-5, Monday 1-8, Tuesday 1-6, Wednesday 1-8, and Thursday 1-6. Details about ‘Open Studio’ and ‘Instructional Open Studio’ in previous posts or on a featured/ pinned posts.

•Also newly advertised GLAZING CLASS on 7/2 for anyone wanting to get some tips/ help glazing their own pieces or one of our bowls for themselves or Empty Bowls at the 1844 House in November.

•We have classes Tuesday evenings in July: BERRY BOWLS with Jan DeWaters (July 7 and 14) and EARRINGS/ PENDANTS with Emily Garland (July 21 and 28). See previous posts for more info.

•We have two new summer kids’ opportunities. We are offering a 4-day Clay Camp for kids ages 8-12 on June 29th-July 2nd from 10am-noon and a 5 week wheel throwing course for teens ages 13-18 on Sundays from July 5th to August 2nd from 6pm-8pm. Costs are $80 and $100 respectively. Please see other posts for more details.

•Drop in and Paint Your Own Pottery (PYOP) during any Open Studio time. Plenty of mugs, vases, tiles, trinket boxes, spoon rests, and small plates to glaze paint. Other figurines available to paint as well. No experience needed. Prices range from $10-$30 and include all costs (piece, glazing, studio time, and firing fees).

•Keep your eyes out for some upcoming opportunities for senior citizens on Monday mornings in July and early August.

•No experience and no time for a weekly class? That’s ok! Come in to an ‘Instructional Open Studio’ (Tuesday/ Thursdays 1-4:30, Fridays 6-9, or Mondays 4:30-8) and for $20/ hr we will walk you through the basics of wheel throwing or hand building. Clay and firing costs are additional.

Want to get back on the wheel? Strengthen your throwing skills? Create a handmade, functional piece of pottery? Join Jan in a 2 part Berry Bowl Class. This class is a multi-skill level class suitable for anyone who has been on a wheel before and can center (or roughly center) clay. Ages 12 and up are welcome! We still have openings in both…
Hey Parents!
Do you need something to occupy your kid’s time when school lets out? Sign them up for either our 4-day Clay Camp for kids ages 8-12 or our 5-week wheel throwing course for teens ages 13-18! Both programs will be taught by our SUNY Potsdam PIP Summer Intern, Katie Fowler, and are designed for beginners, so no experience is required.

Kids Clay Camp:
This 4-day camp will meet from 10 am-12 pm and will run from June 29 to July 2. It is designed to introduce your child to the world of ceramic art. They’ll learn three different methods for creating pieces out of clay, and be able to take home two of their own finished pieces. Students must be 8-12 years old and the class size is limited to 8 students. The nonrefundable class fee of $80 per child is due by June 22nd to secure your child’s seat in the class.

Wheel Throwing 4 Teens:
This 5-week course will meet on Sundays from 6-8 pm and will run from July 5-August 2. It is designed to give older kids a chance to learn how to throw, trim, and glaze pieces made on a pottery wheel. Students will learn about clay and material management, so that they’re capable of using the studio independently in the future. Each student will be able to select two finished pieces to be glazed and fired. This class is limited to 6 students ages 13-18. The non refundable class fee of $100 is due by June 30th to secure your child’s seat in the class.

“Throw Down, Trim Up!”
Who wants to take a two night class with me (Robin W.)? This class is for beginners or those wanting to get some more formal instruction. It’s only 2 nights, so it’s a low commitment class! We’ll throw one night and trim/decorate the next. Clay, firing, and a return trip to the studio to glaze your two pieces are all included. If pottery is on your bucket list, this class is for you!
