•This week’s ‘Open Studio’ hours (when we are open to the public) are today (Tuesday) 1-6 with “Instructional Open Studio” happening from 1-4, Wednesday 1-8, Thursday 1-6, Friday 1-9, and 10-5 Saturday & Sunday. •We will be open from 10-4 on Saturday and Sunday as part of the SLC Arts Open Artists’ Studio Tour. There will be live demos, pots for sale, PYOP, and light refreshments. Come visit us!

•Our next BEGINNER WHEEL CLASS w/ Emily Garland will be starting on Tuesdays in October (10/20-11/27) from 6-8:30. Perfect way to start or improve your pottery journey. $260 is the cost for 5 instructional nights, 4 weeks of Open Studio time, 8 pounds of clay, 4 fired pieces, and a 10 hour punch card to use after the class is over.

•Jan DeWaters will be teaching two CLOSED FORMS CLASSES for those with some prior experience. Class dates are Thursday evenings 11/5, 11/12, and 11/19 (session 1) and/or 12/3, 12/10, and 12/17 (session 2). Take one or both! See other posts for more details.

•We have pumpkins and gourds you can paint! Perfect for the holiday season! Drop in and PAINT YOUR OWN POTTERY (PYOP) during ANY Open Studio time. Plenty of mugs, vases, tiles, trinket boxes, spoon rests, and small plates to glaze paint. Other figurines and available to paint as well. No experience needed. Prices range from $10-$40 and include all costs (piece, glazing, studio time, and firing fees).

•No experience and no time for a weekly class? That’s ok! Come in to an ‘Instructional Open Studio’ (Tuesday/ Thursdays 1-4), Fridays 6-9, or Mondays 5-8) and for $20/ hr we will walk you through the basics of wheel throwing or hand building. Clay and firing costs are additional.

NEW CLASSES! We are offering two 3-week “closed forms” classes – take either or both!
Join Jan DeWaters in a new Advanced Beginner/ Intermediate Level Class: CLOSED FORM PROJECTS. 2 consecutive 3-week sessions offered on Thursdays, 6:00-8:30 PM: Nov. 5th, 12th, and 19th, or Dec. 3, 10, and 17. Take either or both – participants do not need to take the first session in order to take the second.
We will learn (or improve) skills to throw a closed form on the wheel, and then create a series of projects that are all based on this technique. Interested students should be comfortable centering 2-3 pounds of clay. Cost for each 3-week session is $200 and includes 10 pounds of clay and “Open Studio” time for the month of November or December. Class fee does not include firing or glazing - a follow-up glazing class will be offered after the second class, for those interested.
Potential Project Ideas:

• Hanging planter (thrown upside down)
• Salt Cellar
• Bird house
• 1-piece tea pot or bird bottle

This morning! All seniors are welcome! We will show you things you can do in the studio! No experience needed. We will be continuing to do this on Mondays from 10-12 for the rest of October, but we will be moving the the SENIOR time to Mondays 1-3 in November.

We have a new opportunity for SENIORS (ages 55+) to come to the studio at a discounted rate. Micki M. will be hosting a half price time for seniors to gather from 10 am - 12 pm. Studio time will be only $5/ hour, reclaimed clay will be $0.50/ pound, firing fees will be $0.50/ inch and all Paint Your Own Pottery will be half priced. We all know how important it is for older adults to stay connected in the community and to tap into their mental and physical creative sides. Please ‘share’ the word with the seniors in your lives. People are welcome to bring food or drink into the studio or head on down the hall to the Village Diner for lunch. No registration required but questions welcomed at 315-250-4494.
