Loaded post. Good news, "Bad" news, and some updates. TLDR at the end.
I am not trying to upset anybody. I am not trying to start a war. I am not looking for pity.
I wanted to write this out plain and simple so people understand my decision.
Moving forward, at least for the foreseeable future. Fourth Space will not be ordering in new TCG product.
This is a personal choice, and perhaps a bad business decision.
Here is why:
Over the last couple of years, and slightly less so since 2020, my job of securing product has gotten worse.
The velocity of the market right now, coupled with terrible allocations from distributions, and the rabid issues with resellers and scalping has made this part of my job very unenjoyable.
Product scarcity has effected player bases. It has entirely stopped some people from collecting.
The market on brand new product, day one, is sometimes 200-300% of MSRP.
I do not want to partake in that. I don't want to sell an item for 3x normal price, knowing that I paid a normal wholesale price for it. So I haven't. I've been at MSRP this entire time. And the Nice guy finishes last.
My allocations, the product distributions deem me worthy of purchasing, have been cut repeatedly the last 3 years. I've quoted many times in store... 36 booster boxes of Pokemon was our normal new release. That has been cut to 24, then 18, 12, 10, 6, 2... For seemingly no reason.
I joined more distributions. But that has been much of the same.
This is effecting almost every TCG I have stocked in the store for years.
If we see a time again when the market has settled, and product is readily available once again (The way it was before), I will consider stocking everything again.
All in all. I am not enjoying "the chase". And I need a break.
I love what I do. I intend to continue buying and selling TCG singles. At least for a good while. We'll see where this decision takes us.

I've made the decision to leave TCGplayer behind.
The last six weeks, I have been hard at work setting up a new web store and point of sale system.
We now have a brand new web store where everyone can place pickup orders for Cards and Games. (Games are offline at the moment while i finish inventory)
You can check this out live on the website at shop.fourthspacegames.com or by finding a link on the home page.
This new site, being my own creation, integrates into my new point of sale. This means that trade-ins will appear online faster, I will be able to integrate customer accounts to see credit balances, spend that credit online, and even build out buylists and such to make everything so much smoother.
I have so many plans for this stuff my head has been spinning, but one step at a time.
OH and also. The request above ALL others the past 10 years. We have an "Import list to cart" now. You can take a decklist from any of the popular sites, drop into the importer and the site will add every card in stock, that you need, to the cart automatically.

The decision to remove product also puts events in a weird spot.
Complete honesty, the events haven't been doing great anyway and hasn't been a serious focus of mine for a while.
I have left our two commander nights on the calendar, they have been doing well and consistent, and removed everything else.
Instead of posting a weekly recurring event for everything under the sun only for them to not fire... I am branching out and starting some new stuff. The first being our Anime Night on the 22nd.
I'm planning to host more types of events in a less predictable fashion. Or events that are unique that you dont want to miss.
That being said, when I set up the new website a while back I built a community calendar page.
If you have an event YOU want to see happen and you are willing to run it... The space is available and I would love to see some stuff happen. It doesnt even need to be about cards or games. Just kinda nerd-adjacent.

Pretty sure that covers everything I needed off my chest. Love my job. I really dont want to see one part of it burn me out.
I am hoping everyone understands and continues to support the store. Apologies to my pack-cracking addicts.
Thanks everyone
Tyler
