As part of this weekend's "Sail Virginia" and "America 250" celebrations in Portsmouth, we will hold a colonial-inspired service this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. - Choral Matins (Morning Prayer) according to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. Though we are in summer "pick-up choir" mode, we are firing on all cylinders for a "big sing" this Sunday morning. Colonial attire is welcome!

CHORAL
Te Deum in B-flat | Charles Villiers Stanford (1852-1924)
Jubilate in B-flat | Charles Villiers Stanford
Blessed Be the God and Father | Samuel Sebastian Wesley (1810-1876)
Venite - Chant in G | Henry Purcell (1658-1695)
Psalm 14 | The Cambridge Chant

HYMNS
All people that on earth do dwell | Old 100th, arr. Ralph Vaughan Williams
Metrical setting of Psalm XXIX | Dundee

ORGAN
Rhosymedre | Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958)
Voluntary in D | William Croft (1678-1727)

This service is what would have been celebrated at Trinity 250 years ago, though music would have been sparse in 1776. As this is a celebratory weekend, we have opted to utilize this historic service format but are not binding ourselves to musical historical accuracy...silence and metrical psalms would be a little boring to us in 2026.
