PLT is proud to announce cast of Miracle on 34th Street Director Eva Gray Assistant Director Pam Klinepeter

We had a great turnout for auditions yesterday. You have one more chance tonight, see you at 6!

08/31/2026

This evening is the first of two audition dates for PLT’s production of “Miracle on 34th Street”.

We’ve had a few questions, hopefully we can answer yours here:

When will rehearsals start?
The cast will get together to do a read through one day in September, but there will be no official rehearsals until PLT has wrapped The Fall of the House of Usher. Having cast this show a few weeks earlier than normal, actors will have the advantage of a little over a month to memorize their lines.

Is rehearsal every day?
No, not until Tech Week, which is the week before the show. We will have practice two to three evenings a week. The schedule will be released once the cast has been announced. We do our best to work around every cast member’s conflicts. Depending on the progress of rehearsals, more weeknights may be added closer to Tech Week.

Is this the musical version?
No

Important dates:

Auditions: Monday, August 31st, and Tuesday, September 1st beginning at 6:00PM at Portsmouth Little Theatre (1117 Lawson Street). Please enter the scene shop/side door on the 12th Street/52 West side of the building. You may not be required to stay the entire time, but we do ask that you arrive before we begin. If you are available, you may attend both evening auditions (although, not required) because there may be different people auditioning with whom you could read.

Required Attendance:
Tech Week: November 30th through December 3rd.
Show dates: December 4, 5, 11, 12

A large cast of adults and children is needed, and there are speaking and non-speaking roles for all ages. Both novice and experienced actors are welcome.
There is no monologue required - just come ready to do some cold reads with others auditioning.
We will accept video submissions until 8:00PM September 1st. Please tell us about yourself (i.e. name, age, gender identity, stage experience, etc.).
Email submissions to [email protected]

In honor of Poe, happy Cat Day!

Every August 8, the world celebrates International Cat Day, created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare to celebrate cats while raising awareness about their welfare, protection, and care.

Cats have lived beside us for thousands of years, yet they have never completely lost their air of mystery. Independent, observant, affectionate, and sometimes wonderfully strange, they have also become inseparable from folklore, superstition, witches, and gothic imagination.

And few writers understood their mysterious charm better than Edgar Allan Poe. Poe adored cats and shared his home with Catterina, his beloved tortoiseshell cat. Accounts say she would sit on his shoulder while he wrote, quietly keeping him company as the pages filled with some of literature’s darkest visions.
