Our goal is to provide resources and community on the Seacoast: workshops, events, and peer support. The Guild began as a pandemic idea: What if we could take back Portsmouth for the freaks and artists? What if we could carve out a space for alternative culture to take root and grow? What if, like the guilds of the past, we could band together to uplift one another’s work and protect one another’s
livelihoods? What if collaborative community is the antidote to a culture of competition and comparison? The idea is expanding into a calendar of events, and we’re looking for thinkers and doers who share our vision of renting a brick & mortar space in Portsmouth. We envision this place as an art studio, co-working space, event venue, and social club all rolled into one. The spirit of the Guild is networking and mutual support for one another’s projects — a family that looks out for one another. It’s a place for folks to meet new friends and collaborators, showcase their talents, and host their entrepreneurial experiments. We want to provide supplies and accommodate as many different creative mediums as we can… what would YOU like to see in our space? We want to promote Guild members’ workshops and salons, shows and events… what would YOU like to offer? We envision the Guild as a space for freaks, artists, writers, musicians, activists, leftists, and weirdos to come together to inspire and be inspired. No judgment or cliques, just encouragement for your creative impulses to flourish. Let’s create the new world that we’re all longing to see.
