Over the years, the Vocal Cords have awarded $94,000 in scholarships to deserving students from Middlesex County majoring in nursing or music. This year’s recipients are: Ashley Kelley- Haddam-Killingworth High School, attending Eastern Connecticut State University’s Nursing Program; Evelyn Hair- Portland High School, attending Sacred Heart University’s Nursing Program and Lillian’s Tycz- Mercy High School, attending University of Connecticut’s Nursing Program (see photo). Congratulations to all!

The Vocal chords celebrated there 36th anniversary this year. Members receiving their longevity awards include: (L to R) Don Chamberlin, Debbie Kraner(5 years); Elaine Akley (10 years); Amy Jensen (15 years); Jeannie Ziomek (25 years) and Allene Kalisz (35 years).
