I hope everyone is doing well. I've been mostly offline for a while now but still moving forward with projects in the background. In addition to starting draft work on my third series and getting a new laser cutter up and running, I've been spending some time in the blockchain space, researching smart contracts and thinking of ways to incorporate them into my art. Though my work is physical rather than digital, I believe NFTs can play a valuable role in record keeping, acting as secured letters of provenance for real world items. This photo is a sneak peek at one of the pieces I've created with the intention of having its ownership determined by a smart contract. Still working behind the scenes on some new designs as well as a new laser to go with it. On the design front I've been drawn to doorway like compositions. On the laser front I've successfully made some test cuts but am still working to properly align over the 7 feet the beam has to travel to reach the far end of the cutting bed. Imagine this design at 3x4 feet!

🚨Join The Fight To Protect Your Civil Liberties🚨If you aren't already aware, there are currently masked men without badges roaming the streets of Portland in unmarked vans snatching up protestors. This disturbing use of force comes at the behest of federal agents and against the wishes of state and local authorities. While I encourage anyone with the means to take to the streets directly, for others I am running this ACLU fundraiser. Since the beginning of BLM demonstrations in the wake of the murder of George Floyd the ACLU has had observers in the streets to document and fight in court the continued brutality of police forces. Now here in Portland they were among the first to file suit against these federal agencies that are clearly violating the constitutional rights of protestors. When I'm designing I usually make several iterations of a concept before settling on a final version. During this process I dump shapes I decide against onto a throwaway layer in case I change my mind and want to bring an element back. This time though, I went to sift through my trash and saw this composition waiting for me. This isn't the first time inspiration has struck so randomly. Circle Knots started as a wrong button click that turned out more interesting than what I originally had in mind. Design is a curious process! 🖌️💡⚡🖼️
