Our fifth graders are off to middle school! WE’RE NOT SOBBING!!!! 😭😭😭

We’ve watched these kids grow up over the last five years and we can’t believe they are already off to next chapter. The memories made at The Hangout are ones we treasure, ones that have helped remind us the joy the comes from teaching art to K-5 kids.

Thank you for being a part of our community, a consistent source of mentorship, joy and laughter. We wish you all nothing but happiness, fun, and lots of art making as you step into your new roles as junior highschoolers. Don’t forget us when you’re famous!

ADVENTURE ART CAMP IS NOW ENROLLING! Every day is an adventure as campers will explore the outdoors while making art. We’ll visit PAM, the Oregon Zoo, Forest Park, Bonneville Dam, Sauvie Island, OMSI, and more!

This is the perfect camp for those kiddos who love making art, but get antsy sitting down all day!

No previous art experience required. Fun and adventure guaranteed!

✨ ENROLLMENT NOW OPEN FOR THE 2026 - 2027 SCHOOL YEAR! ✨

Our books are officially open to register your child at the Hangout PDX for our afterschool visual arts classes! This K-5 program offers kids a place to explore the arts, learn new techniques, and skills, make new friends, and of course, have fun! With flexible, scheduling, after school pick up for money, PPS schools, and the best art teachers, the side of the Willamette, it’s no wonder we were voted Top Five children’s programs two years in a row. The Third Annual EGGSTRA Awesome Egg Hunt EGGSTRAVAGANZA was one magical and EGG-cellent day!

We are humbled by the number of families that shows to show up to our community event. We hunted for well over 6000 eggs with old friends and new. We played games, won prizes, painted faces, and had the time of our lives getting pied in the face.

A huge thank you to the & Sunnyside Environmental School for hosting our event this year. Thank you to all of our donors and to our wonderful families who continue to support our visual arts programs. You are the reason we do what we do and the reason we can continue throwing these community events every year that bring a little bit more joy to our wonderful city.

We can’t wait to see you all at the # next September!
