Here’s a shareable post:
Hey folks!
Although we had planned to hand over Turn Turn Turn to new owners at the beginning of the year, those negotiations unfortunately fell through. We are now in conversations with another potential buyer. As we continue planning a handoff, we’ve worked with our landlords to remain open and operating during this transition period.

At the moment, there are no shows on the calendar for January and February - but we’d love to quickly change that. Our goal is to get back up and running, work through transition details with new owners, and keep things moving as usual so we can ensure a smooth and seamless transfer when the time comes.

If you’re in a band and would like to put together a bill for January or February, please reach out! Booking inquiries can be sent to [email protected].

And some good news: if your New Year’s resolution was to try stand up comedy, Casual Friday open mic comedy with host Logan Loughmiller resumes this Friday January 9! Or if karaoke is more your speed, join K-Tel and Larry-okee on Monday January 12!

Thank you so much for your patience as we abruptly switch gears. January may be a little spotty, but keep an eye on the calendar - we’ll have events added shortly and would love to see your faces at Turn.

Hello friends,

Two years ago, after years of enjoying all that T3 had to offer, we were humbled to have the opportunity to take over stewardship of our favorite club. It’s been a hell of a ride, chock full of special moments, incredible performances, wonderful staff, and a beautiful community. But for various reasons, we’ve reached a point where we can no longer sustain the bandwidth needed to keep the place going. While we feel the need to move on from that role, we would very much like to see the venue continue to thrive. We know this place has come to mean so much to so many bands, music lovers, neighbors, misfits, and oddballs. It is our ardent hope that there is someone special out there who would like to grab the reins and keep the dream alive.

Are you interested in writing the next chapter of Turn by taking ownership of the venue? If so, drop us a line by emailing [email protected] (serious inquiries only, please). We’ll be bowing out at the end of the year, so time is of the essence here - if you have some kind of business plan in mind, don’t hesitate to reach out and start exploring the options. We will help as fully as possible with any transition, and certainly there will be many in the T3 community who would lend a hand too. Seeing Turn boarded up would be heartbreaking for everyone, so we’re very much hoping to see its light continue to shine into the future.

It’s been a great honor to keep the Turn flame burning, with help from all of you, and we’re excited to see who might grab the torch next!

With gratitude and much love,
Mark and Kate

Listen here people. You need to see this film produced and written by our dear friend, Alex Behr. Raw and brutal, tender, instant perspective changing reality. Not to be missed❣️

After 30 years separated by time and circumstance, poet Alex Behr reunites with lost love Chris Hartman, her “car guy” from San Francisco.

In the fall of 2020, during the Covid lockdown, Chris becomes sick with an accelerated, fatal illness, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD). He dies in their dining room on October 6, 2020.

Grief Stick explores the contours of love and death, using photographs, voicemails, and video.

Come on out and offer the Second Half Walters and Simple Shapes crisp and vigorous high fives in honor of their new releases, to be celebrated here tonight!

Come out for another afternoon of song, this time benefitting the PIRC, doing important work around immigrant rights in our community.

Sat 10/4 8pm Mystery Band Showcase - A Benefit for Black and Beyond The Binary Collective
The return of MBS! Here’s how it works - “We will randomly group about 15-30 people into “mystery bands.” Some of these folks have never performed live before. We give them 1-2 months to create 3-5 minutes of music, and then perform it for their friends and family at this event, which doubles as a fundraiser for a local nonprofit.” What could go wrong?

Sun. 10/5 GENERIFUS, RED MEADOW, PALE VIOLET
Always stoked to welcome Oly songwriter Spencer Sult and his long running (and excellent!) project Generifus. This time, a coupla rad locals, Red Meadow and Pale Violet, sweeten the pot!

Sat. 9/27 8pm WILLIAM DELEE, MIKE GAMBLE, JAKE SOFFER
Great last minute show featuring three of the best guitarists in town! Saw William DeLee for the first time last month and am still lifting my jaw. Fans of Sir Richard Bishop will dig what he’s burying. Mike Gamble has probably graced the T3 stage as many times as anyone and always wows whether he’s playing free jazz, country, folk, rock, or whatever - always inventive and incredible. I’ve yet to see Jake Soffer, but very into the recordings and excited to rectify the situation on this evening!

Matinee all ages modern jazz excursions!

Fri. 9/12 FRED THOMAS (MI), GOLDEN TILES, NOWHERE FLOWER
We’re super stoked to welcome Ann Arbor’s Fred Thomas back to TTT. If you don’t know him, Google him, but dude has had his mitts on so much amazing s**t over the years. Tack on the DIY basement pop genius of Golden Tiles and, for my money, one of the most unique and inventive artists in town, Nowhere Flower, and you got a real nice night.

Sat. 9/13 4pm RICH HALLEY 4, DAVE STORRS’ HEZ/DAVES
Rich and co have been tearing up the T3 stage as long as there’s been a stage. Come out and soak in some of the the best jazz this town has to offer.

Sat. 9/13 8pm STREET NIGHTS (EP Remix Release Party), GALEN BALLINGER
Jake Morris (Steve Malkmus and the Jicks, Blesst Chesst) comes out from behind his drum kit and fronts his very groovy project Street Nights! One of Portland’s unsung heroes, Galen Ballinger, opens things up!

Sun 9/14 4pm DRUMBIRD, BEE SAHATJI, HAZEL RA
Excellent bill of slightly skewed folk leaning sounds headlined by the beautiful songs of Antiquated Future recording artiste Hazel Ra!

Sun 9/14 8pm MAD FRANCES, LOLA BONES, BENJ, CHASE HARGROVE
Keep your Sunday flowing with this eclectic and groovy bill!

Mon. 9/15 LUKE SWEENEY (SF), MAX KNOUSE (LA), BIG TOP
Hot Monday action as Luke Sweeney brings his “sensitive punk and misty-eyes soul” to our clubhouse. To my ears, he’s gotta a great Stiff Records (Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello, Wreckless Eric) vibe about him that should be great live. Add co-headliner Max Knouse (Califone), who recently wowed our house for his record release celebration and local upstarts Big Top, and you prob wanna forget it’s Monday!

Fri. 9/5 TTT Benefit: SEA MOSS, VARDAMAN ENSEMBLE, LIBRARY STUDIES, FULLBIRD
Four of the absolute best makers of radical music, most who have been playing TTT since the early days, graciously combine forces to raise a few bucks to try and keep the bills paid without anyone having to harvest additional organs. Be there!

Sat. 9/6 HOCKEY TEETH (Seattle), LASKA, LUCKY STAR, JAYMES BAND
Seattle’s Hockey Teeth bring its sugary and infectious power pop down the interstate for a Saturday night party with three Portland groovers and shakers rounding out a cool night!

Sun. 9/7 SILVUR, JFLED, LEYTON, AKEMIE
Sunday evening of all the pop you can shake a stick at. Modern sounds for modern people. Feel it!

Mon. 9/8 Karaoke with K-TEL AND LARRY-OKEE

Wed. 9/10 EPLIEPSY, LIL T4T, LEYTON, PILLARS OF SALT
Interesting evening that pairs two hyperpop artists with two noise artists. What could go wrong?

Thur. 9/11 FILLING (Record Release), GUITAR, OBEDIENT, DJ DAVEY JONES
A grip of the best newer bands in town together to celebrate the release of a new slab of sound from Filling.

From :
Yes, their 1989 debut album Tweez was recorded by Steve Albini, and yes, the image of their 1991 sophomore album Spiderland was taken by Will “Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy” Oldham. But what about the rest of the lore? Why did the band not use Albini for the second record? What’s signing to Chicago’s incomparable Touch and Go Records like? All these questions and more stand to be answered during this rare screening of Breadcrumb Trail, the 2014 Slint documentary. Screening to be proceeded by an all-vinyl DJ set featuring Slint and Slint-adject sounds. Big shouts to the Crush on Everyone crew making space for that real Midwest emo s**t right here in Portland… FOR FREE. (Turn! Turn! Turn!, 7:30 pm, more info here, FREE, 21+)
