For 10 years, Nucleus Portland has championed extraordinary art and cultivated a space where illustration, pop culture, and contemporary creativity can intersect. Its 10th anniversary exhibition is a fitting celebration of that legacy, bringing together a dynamic selection of artists and works that reflect the gallery’s distinctive spirit. More than a milestone, the exhibition highlights the breadth of talent Nucleus has supported over the past decade, offering a look at the imaginative, often unconventional work that has made the gallery a vital part of Portland’s and the art world at large’s community.

A look inside Matt Schu’s studio and the pieces he created for our 10th Anniversary Exhibition. We’ve had the pleasure of featuring Matt Schu 🖋’s work in solo and group exhibitions over the years, and we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate his work.

Both pieces have sold, but you can still view them at the gallery today on the final day of the exhibition, or online anytime.

Scrungly. Guy.

“Divide”, based on an old ink illustration I did back in the day (iykyk but I’ll post it soon)! This piece is currently on display Nucleus Portland for their 10th anniversary show. Thanks so much for having me!!

The parts growing out of the neck were originally going to be pink underglaze with a clear glaze, but following some inconsistencies with the clear glaze, I decided to pivot to this cobalt + teal combo, which I hadn’t tried before this firing. I think it’s cool that you can kinda see the pattern I brushed on, almost like a weird planty-veiny-structure! 🌱 ✨
