Tristan Koepke (he/him) is a dancer, choreographer, and educator based in Portland, ME. His creative works, collected as Big Boy Dance, have been presented by SPACE Gallery, CANDYBOX Dance Festival, Patrick’s Cabaret, Bryant Lake Bowl, Bates College, Bates Dance Festival, The Wooden Floor, Point Dance Ensemble, The 1419 Collective, and The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. He has performed in contemporary and experimental dance works by Chris Schlichting, Vanessa Anspaugh, luciana achugar, Cally Spooner, Doug Varone, Mathew Janczewski, Kendra Portier, Heidi Henderson, Matthew Cumbie, Annie Kloppenberg, and was a member of Zenon Dance Company from 2011-2015 and 2017-2019. He holds an MFA in Dance from the University of Maryland, College Park, and is currently Assistant Professor at Bates College and Associate Director of the Young Dancers Intensive at the Bates Dance Festival

🎉🎉Contemporary Forms Workshop with James Barrett & Emilia Bruno

James Barrett is a q***r, Brooklyn-based performer, director, and educator. His dancing is most influenced by his time with director Faye Driscoll and with New Dialect (Nashville, TN), where he performed works by Rosie Herrera, Yin Yue, Banning Bouldin, Idan Sharabi, and Joy Davis. James has choreographed works for Visceral Dance Chicago and New Dialect and has shared his solo work at Centennial Performing Arts Studios (TN), the Barn at Lee (MA), Green Space (NY), and Pageant (NY). Most recent experiences include projects with Lauren Edson, Dolly Sfeir, Ben Green, and Faye Driscoll, with whom he created the critically-acclaimed work, “Weathering,” which is now touring nationally and internationally. He has worked independently and through companies as a rehearsal assistant and teaching artist, instructing at various programs including Jazzgoba Dance Academy (Costa Rica), Perry- Mansfield, Tulane University, and The Juilliard School.

Originally from Lake Zurich, IL, Emilia Bruno (they/them) is an Italian-American, q***r movement artist and educator based in College Park, MD. They are a core collaborator with Tristan Koepke/Big Boy Dance, regularly creating, developing, and performing company work since 2023. Additional performance credits include Kendra Portier/BANDportier, Shapiro & Smith Dance, Zenon Dance Company, Slo Dance Company, Brit Falcon/Falcon Dance, and MK Ford. In addition to their work at BDF and as a performance artist, Emilia works as an arts administrator for Mariclare Hulbert Consulting supporting the communication, marketing, and public relations efforts of renown dance artists and organizations including Dance/USA and NCCAkron. Their dance scholarship has been presented at the 2025 Pop Culture Association Conference and the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Christina is a dancer, choreographer, film-maker, producer, and dance educator based in the Western Mountains of Maine. She is a graduate of Dean College with an A.A. in Dance and the Trustees Prize in Dance and University of the Arts with a B.F.A. in Modern Dance Performance and the award for Most Outstanding Performance in Modern Dance. Her career spans many genres of dance from ballet to musical theater, concert dance to television and film. Professional regional theater credits include Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Mary Poppins, A Christmas Carol, Footloose, The Producers, Sweet Charity, Seussical: The Musical, Charlotte’s Web, and the NYC industry reading of “Woody: A New Fairytale”. Christina has performed all over the US, Canada, Spain, Brazil, Russia, Israel, and Tokyo’s TheatreOrb with the International tour of The Aluminum Show (’10-’13 Dance Captain/Swing, ’25 Tour Producer), the National tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Dance Captain/Swing) directed and choreographed by Tony-Award-winner Andy Blankenbuehler, and the 1st Broadway National Tour of Finding Neverland (Ensemble/ Peter Pan cover) directed by Diane Paulus with choreography by Mia Michaels. TV and film credits include HBO’s The Gilded Age Seasons 1-3, Westworld, Dance Mom’s, MTV, HGTV, and various commercials. She has had the honor of working with industry leaders such as Karla Puno Garcia, Nancy Braun, Stephanie Klemmons, Joey Pizzi, and John Carrafa.
Christina’s choreography has been presented at Philadelphia’s Drake Theater, The Tank NYC, The Muse Brooklyn, New Hampshire’s Majestic Theater and Palace Theatre, Boston’s Dance Complex and Third Life Choreographers’ Series and the Built On Stilts Performing Arts Festival on Martha’s Vineyard.
