Portland Horror Film Festival

Portland Horror Film Festival Portland Horror Film Festival showcases diverse independent, innovative, international horror films. The Pacific Northwest is a creepy place. P.

It can be dark and gloomy, but even when it is sunny and warm, the shadows in this tree-filled land run deep with a dark history. We also organize the H. Lovecraft Film Festival® and Zompire: The Undead Film Festival, here in Portland, both of which are very niche-oriented festivals with strict genre criteria. We thought it was finally time for Portland to have its very own Horror film festival to

show the breadth of amazing independent horror. Independent filmmakers are the lifeblood of the Horror genre. Commercial horror is a genre often stuck in a rut; it's the independent filmmakers who innovate and create new horrific ideas, and who become the new masters of horror. Clive Barker, Wes Craven, Eli Roth, John Carpenter, and many more notable names, all came out of left field with small indie films that changed the face of horror. More than any other genre, horror relies on new filmmakers with new ways to scare us. It's our goal to showcase and foster the next generation.

On Friday night, meet the cast and crew of one of the craziest films of the fest! Our late night Midnight Movies block features Alex Montilla’s FRIDAY THE 69Th, a throwback to those sleazy slashers of the 1970s and 80s. A group of p**n filmmakers decide to cash in on the slasher craze and make their own horror movie with hilarious results! Grab some Fierce Whiskers whiskey and prepare for the blood… this Friday the 69th. (Actually, it’s Friday, June 4 at 9:30pm, preceded by a block of Midnight Movies style short films that are crazy throwback fun!)
