Here is another alcohol ink piece featuring Jacquard and Brea Reese inks with a little bit of gold by Marabu (lovely, very finely textured...). Epson premium photo paper. I'd love some feedback about this color palette. Happy Wednesday!!

More experimentation with Brea Reese and Jacquard inks on Epson Premium photo paper. These Brea Reese inks are ✨so✨ richly colored that they almost sing! I am having to make adjustments to my medium and my technique, but it seems to be doable. It's
☀️thrilling☀️ to have new inks to work with!! What do you think of these colors? Do you like the piece?

Here is another piece using Marabu Alcohol Inks, Brea Reese Alcohol Inks, and Jacquard Piñata Inks on Epson Premium Photo Paper. I'm working to figure out how to apply my technique to Marabu’s uniqueness as an alcohol based ink. I'm getting there, and really liked this effort along the way 😺

••• So I got my new set of Marabu Alcohol Inks and have found them to be beautiful and very unique!! Very rick, colorful ink dyes and an amazing palette of colors including a Brass color (seen in this piece) which is rich and shiny. There is also an ink called Rainbow, a finely ground and super reflectiv liquid color additive. Marabu describes it as, ”Our uniquely magical Rainbow color additive gives any color a mesmerizing shimmer effect...” Depending on the angle you are viewing you will see colors that almost glow, or reflect a super bright shiny color in ink form!! I’m only scratching the surface with the attached photos! 🙂
Also seen here are Jacquard inks in Blue Violet, Coral, and that sassy Brass! @ Portland, Oregon

This piece is alcohol ink on photo paper made using Marabu Alcohol Inks and Jacquard Alcohol Inks. I hadn't tried Marabu inks before, but they are amazing! The colors are very rich and are slightly different from Ranger or Jacquard inks, which is clear from the ✨very ✨ slight odor and the way they reacted with something in one of the photo papers I use. I wound up with a mess initially, but once I was able to compensate I had a pretty good result! These colors seem almost translucent! I love them!! What do you think? Next time I will be playing with Brea Reece inks!

This is a piece done on glossy, heavyweight, white, cardstock. It is Tria and Ranger alcohol inks. It has the look of a poured piece almost. What do you think?

August is for Artists Day 3: Preferred Medium — I hate this question because I ✨love✨ both alcohol inks and acrylic paints for different reasons. I am more skilled in my technique with alcohol inks, but love acrylics because of the sheer number of techniques and treatments there are. Plus there isn’t a whole lot more fun that a.) learning something new, and b.) mixing and layering paint and then pouring it on something! It’s all so fun!! So — no deep confessions of emotional or other needs not met, or intense personal info this time (not that there’s anything wrong with it)! 😉 ••• artistsoninstagram ••• @ Portland, Oregon

August is for Artists: Day 2 How I Started-- this is one of my very first pieces. I discovered that I had some visual arts-related talents about 17-18 years ago when I took a rubber stamping class with a friend. From then on I was simply🌷obsessed🌷 with card making, stamping and book arts. When a dramatic (and klutzy) accident occurred in my studio in which spilled alcohol inks created a chain reaction, it resulted in my discovery of the technique I now use with alcohol inks! I have been working to perfect my technique and develop a medium to use with Alocohol Inks for about 7 years. In addition, I began acrylic paint pouring about 6 months ago after seeing some luscious examples of pouring here on IG -- I just couldn't resist trying out paint pouring!
On a much deeper level, at some point I realized that some of my efforts in making hand made, one-of-a-kind cards and books had to do with my desire to communicate better with my father. We each contributed things that caused us to never really resolve our issues. As much as I loved him we couldn't really talk, and on my end, I struggled to correct that. And struggle now knowing tossup and he's gone. In the books, cards and paper arts-oriented items I made for my dad, I found I could communicate with him! I could articulate things, make him laugh, or broach a difficult subject through my art! Initially, I cared about art largely because of I could attempt to communicate better with him. Anyway, our relationship was really never repaired. But happily, art is now ✨purely✨ about joy for me. I make art largely for me, (but sometimes to sell or share!!

I'm aware that is waaaay more than the question called for, but I'm going to stand by this and hit enter... ••• ... •••
