Americana and roots singer-songwriter Jackie Greene has built a reputation as a versatile musician equally at home behind a soulful piano ballad or a blues-soaked guitar solo, including a stint as lead guitarist for The Black Crowes. His songwriting blends folk, blues, rock, and Americana influences, drawing from a deep appreciation of traditional American music while keeping one foot firmly in the present. Over the years, Greene has toured and collaborated with artists including B.B. King, Susan Tedeschi, Phil Lesh & Friends, and Bob Weir, earning a devoted following as both a solo artist and collaborator.

Henry is confused why our videos aren't receiving "several thousand tiny hearts."

Kristen made the mistake of explaining internet culture.

He learned very little, but he did remember to mention Big Yellow Taxi The Band on June 5, which honestly feels like a win.

🎸 We’re a little over two weeks into our Help Share the Music Spring Fundraiser, and thanks to this community, we’ve already raised more than $12,000 toward our $30,000 goal by June 30!

We’re genuinely blown away by your generosity.

Every donation helps support the work that happens both inside and beyond our four walls: free outdoor concerts, our Library Pass Program, free monthly Open Mics, the Longfellow Emerging Artist Fellowship (LEAF), affordable livestreams, and other programs that help make live music more accessible throughout our community.

If you've visited recently, you've probably spotted this guitar hanging in the venue. Built by our Venue Manager, Andy, it's become home to a handful of guitar picks signed by supporters who've helped Share the Music. Donate during a show, add your name to a pick, and become part of the wall. (And yes, Andy has also invited people to lob crumpled bills his way during his curtain speech. Please note: no coins. 😅)

This week's campaign focus is livestreaming and the ways it helps connect audiences far beyond Portland. Stay tuned as we continue highlighting the programs your support makes possible.

❤️ Help us reach $30,000 by June 30.

Coming up next week: Big Yellow Taxi The Band - The Music of Joni Mitchell: Miles of Aisles Remix! ✨

In 1974 Joni Mitchell releases a live double album, Miles of Aisles, documenting her first tour with a band. Tom Scott and the LA Express became Joni’s backing band after the success of the Court and Spark album. This completed her transformation from Folk singer to genre
bending Pop Rock Jazz identity.

The Aisles of Miles Remix is an exploration of this seminal live album. Big Yellow Taxi faithfully recreating some of Joni’s music and takes on other songs with their own twist. It’s Joni folk, Joni rock, Joni Jazz…pure Joni for a night of joy and magic.

This week, our Help Share The Music campaign is highlighting livestreaming - and all the ways it helps music travel far beyond our four walls 💙

Over the past year, viewers have tuned into OLS livestreams from 36 states, plus places like Australia, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, and Japan. Parents get to watch their kids perform from across the country, friends reconnect in the chat, and fans who can’t physically make it to Portland are still able to experience sold out shows and special moments in real time.

One of our favorite parts of every livestream is watching the chat come alive - people greeting each other from different corners of the world, sharing where they’re tuning in from, cheering on artists, and feeling connected through the music together. Last month during our Kruger Brothers livestream, 38 viewers were actively chatting throughout the show, and it genuinely felt like its own little community forming in real time!

Your donations help power all of this - making livestreaming accessible, affordable, and available to people wherever they are.

🎤 JUNE OPEN MIC - ONE WEEK AWAY 🎤

Our Open Mic Night returns next Wednesday, June 3 - and we’re excited to welcome Stephen & Caroline from Lolabelle as this month’s hosts! As part of our 2026 LEAF Fellowship cohort, they’ll help guide another evening built around community, creativity, and supporting local artists.

Month after month, this series continues to grow into a welcoming space for musicians to test out new material, gain confidence on stage, and connect with fellow artists and listeners. Whether you’re performing, cheering someone on, or just curious to experience the room, your presence helps keep Portland’s local music ecosystem thriving.

We’re also excited to feature Alex Silver, an experimental folk musician and member of the alt-country project Chico States. Known for thoughtful songwriting and a wide-ranging musical background that spans indie rock, folk, and collaborative projects, Alex will share a featured set around 8PM.
