The Sound Improv Retreat is an annual intensive training opportunity offered to actors and improvisers ready to level up their skill, broaden their performance horizons and soak in the beauty and majesty of The Puget Sound.

This years Sound Improv Retreat takes place Thursday Aug. 6-9 and is lead by Domeka Parker. Improvisers are lodged in a beautiful cliff side house on Harstine Island in Washington State, USA.

Training takes place:
Friday - 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm / 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Saturday- 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. / 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Sunday - 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Radical Permission to Play 🤸‍♀️ JUNE 14th

Have you been taught that joy is avoidance or distraction? That finding pleasure signals indifference to suffering or complicity in the system?

Ooof. No wonder you're burnt all the way out.

What if play was not avoidance, but a sustainable resistance strategy? What if self-care is soul care. Join us for this in person Direct Compassionate Communication practice, where we'll explore the ways we block play, possibility, and curiosity. ​

At Deep End we teach and employ a practice called Sound Improv. Sound Improv is a unique approach to improvisation theater that is grounded in acting, performance savvy and stage craft. In this case the word "sound" represents structural integrity as the work is built on the foundation of seven pillars of skill.

One we wanted to highlight today is Curiosity over judgement!

These pillars support engaging and dynamic theatrical improvisation that feels like scripted theater. Sound improv respects improvisation as an art and a craft worthy of thorough study and dedicated performance.
