Popular pub and picture palace This marvelous relic of Hollywood's Golden Age is a movie palace full of wonder and surprises.

For nearly four generations now, the Bagdad's Mediterranean/neon persona and daily films have made it an icon of Portland's vibrant Hawthorne District. The interior is an attraction in and of itself, with barreled arches, ornate wrought-iron fixtures, brilliant mosaics and painted Mediterranean designs and characters.

What if the only thing standing between you and a better life… was one more flight? ✈️

Starting August 27th, we’re showing The Dog Stars (R) at the theater.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the film follows Hig, a pilot living with his dog in an abandoned airport, who picks up a mysterious radio transmission that gives him a reason to believe there might still be something worth flying toward.

Sounds like a pretty good excuse to settle into a theater seat 👀

The Hawthorne Street Fair is one of our favorite days of the year!

If you're planning to spend Sunday, August 23rd wandering Hawthorne, make sure to stop by the Bagdad between 11 AM and 5 PM.

We’ll have drink specials, a just-for-fun Passport stamp, face painting from noon–3 PM, and free theater tours at noon and 1:30 PM. Or, if your ideal street fair activity is people-watching, you can do that here too. 😉

Ordering the Bánh Mì Blitz Chicken Sandwich on the Greater Trumps patio and enjoying lunch in the sunshine is highly recommended by Chef Justin. ☀️

This seasonal special stacks up crispy chicken tossed in sweet Thai chili sauce with Imperial Dragon aioli, pickled daikon-carrot slaw, fresh cilantro, jalapeños, all on a toasted bun with fries on the side.

With a lunch like this, we'd be smiling like that too.
