7-9 PM Thursdays:
7 PM Warmup and solo drills
7:30-8:30 PM Work in couples on technique and moves
8:30-9 PM practice time, get help or just dance

Elizabeth teaches dance with an emphasis on breath, energy and posture to create the special connection that makes tango so addictive. She brings her 25 years of experience teaching many forms of dance, as well as her training in yoga and hu

man anatomy, to her students. She enjoys both close and open embrace styles, as well as both leading and following. Elizabeth started studying folk, swing, ballroom, African, ballet, modern and jazz dance at Carleton College. in dance from the University of Oregon, she got hooked on Argentine tango in 1995. She co-founded the Eugene tango community in 1996 with Greg Estes. in cultural anthropology, she visited Buenos Aires several times, interviewed dancers and teachers, and explored gender roles in tango, as well as dancers' views toward the lead and follow roles. She moved to Portland in 2008.

This week 7-9 PM at Shabu Studios, it's Week 2 of: Let's learn to really DANCE in a small space! So often, having limited space = limited brain and just doing the three steps you do while panicking :-)
We will do more from my lessons with Ricardo Viqueira in Buenos Aires, inspired by his crazy video of dancing on a card table!! The music this week: a curated blend of orchestras while we polish our ability to navigate, create and be musical with our partners! Come join us!

This week at Shabu Studios on Thursday, we will explore the music of Malerba's orchestra. 7 PM: classic giros and starting to work on cruzadas (crosses). 8 PM: combos with elegant, not-dangerous-to-other-people boleos, and time to work on your musicality and creativity! Please join us!

The 7 PM class is appropriate for beginners and anyone who wants to polish their fundamental technique. The 8 PM class will move more quickly and tackle deep technique for boleos and dive into musicality.
