Detail No. 8. - The Modern Man. I debated including the human element in this illustration, but in the end I wanted to push the imagination around the narrative and I think he does that. I also included my favorite coffee mug from ! 😉

Detail No. 7 - Continuing to push depth! I love how far you can see in Colorado, the landscape is so vast and I wanted to incorporate that in this illustration. Sun kissed peaks followed by farther and farther away adventures!

Detail No. 6 - Forest for the trees! It was important to me to illustrate a variety of trees not only for interest and shape language, but for spatial separation. I really wanted to establish depth, so I applied detail in the foreground and less and less as the landscape receded.

Detail No. 5 - Welcome home! I’ve always loved a double door entrance with starburst hardware on flat panels! Not to mention that eye-catching color! Also, it’s always good to have a beautiful Monstera in the window.

Detail No. 4 - Layers! I really love the idea of the irregularities of nature complimented with the touch of human design. From the foliage to the undulating rock facets, to a manicured lawn.

Detail No. 3 - My second car was a 1992 Ford Bronco, so I thought it fitting to illustrate a 1968 model for this mid-century man! I gave it a slight lift and bigger tires cuz that’s just my steez.

Detail No. 2 - First, I really wanted to showcase the beautiful aspen trees here in Colorado as well as a variety of other species. Second, were the colossal red rock outcroppings that are scattered along the western slope!

ARCADIAN MODERNISM is an illustration created by Anthony Benedetto as a companion piece to his 2018 MODERN ROMANTICISM! While the first illustration was made to celebrate the Oregon landscape, this piece showcases the majesty and beauty of the state of Colorado.

Anthony and his family have lived in both states and they have shaped him more than anywhere else! His love for Mid-Century animation, design, illustration, and architecture are still at the root of the work. His hope was to put the viewer into a quiet moment of awe like something in a story from a distant place.

The illustration was created at the same aspect ratio as its predecessor so that the two can contrast and compliment each other. We’re also offering this illustration as a fine art print in our store (Link in Bio) so go grab one for your crib!
