When I started tattooing, I didnât anticipate the level of connection I would share with my clients. When I began this journey I knew that I loved to draw all the time, but my jobs were taking more and more time and energy away from my drawing time. I struggled with social dynamics throughout most of those jobs, particularly due to managers insisting that I work the counter even though I applied for back of the house positions.
Tattooing presented a bit of a dilemma for me. I get to have all the drawing time I can wish for, but I also need to be engaging with my clients both physically and emotionally.
I knew that to overcome some of the social difficulties, I was going to have to meet people on a common ground. Small talk has never been an exciting activity for me. Luckily, most tattoo appointments offer plenty of time to get to know each other.
16 years later, I still love designing beautiful tattoos for people, but the connections with each of my clients is the part that gives my life meaning. The conversations we have during your tattoo appointments are unique. I love to hold space for you, be vulnerable with you, and connect with you. Doing your tattoo allows me to fulfill my deepest purpose while also doing the activity that brings me joy in life.
Thank you for sharing yourself with me.đ
