University of Portland Orchestra (UPO) Welcome to the University of Portland Orchestra!

The University of Portland Symphony Orchestra is an inclusive community of musicians seeking opportunities to inspire and enrich lives through engaging with a diverse selection of orchestral works. Conducted by Dr. Rebekah Hanson, the UPO is a full, symphony orchestra open by audition to all students across campus, regardless of major. We encourage students to become leaders and life-long learners

Looking forward to my first rehearsal with University of Portland Symphony Orchestra Tuesday night!
Things will be a little different this semester being online; but after auditions, I can say that I am incredibly thankful for the group of students I get to work with.
I so appreciate their flexibility, enthusiasm, and optimism. It’s going to be a fantastic year!

We are so happy to welcome Dr. Rebekah Hanson as our new Orchestra conductor!! Welcome to a new era of the UPO!!

We are excited to announce that Dr. Rebekah Hanson will be joining us in the fall as Assistant Professor of Music and conductor of the University Orchestra!

"I am thrilled to join the faculty at the University of Portland! I had a wonderful time visiting campus in February and really enjoyed getting to meet many of you.
