Portland Center Stage is the largest theater company in Portland, and among the top 20 regional theaters in the country. Established in 1988 as a branch of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the company became independent in 1994. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Marissa Wolf and Interim Managing Director Liam Kaas-Lentz, the company produces a mix of classic, contemporary, and world premie
re productions, along with a variety of high-quality education and community programs. As part of its dedication to new play development, the company has produced 28 world premieres, many of which were developed at its annual JAW New Play Festival. Portland Center Stage’s home is The Armory, aan historic building originally constructed in 1891. After a major renovation, The Armory opened in 2006 as the first building on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as the first performing arts venue in the country and the first building in Portland, to achieve a LEED Platinum rating. Portland Center Stage is committed to identifying and interrupting instances of racism and all forms of oppression, through the principles of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA).

Join us for November First Thursday, featuring a special live musical performance titled Rosas Del Mu**to by members of the PSU Mariachi Rosas Del Sol ensemble to celebrate Dia de Los Mu**tos. PSU Mariachi Rosas del Sol's ROSAS DEL MU**TO features a colectivo of musicians who are all a part of PSU's Mariachi but have formed this special ensemble to celebrate Dia de Los Mu**tos at Portland Center Stage. They will play a mix of mariachi songs and improvisational numbers spanning many genres of music.
There will also be vendor tables by artist Cositas PDX, Trans Wardrobe Project, Mercado Lula, Candy Girl Piñatas, art exhibits by Alejandro IV Barragan and Maria TD Inocencio, with complimentary select beer provided by Deschutes Brewery.

Día de Mu**tos Oregon presents an art installation and gallery exhibit titled Mictlán in partnership with artist Alejandro VI Barragan, featuring a Catrina statue art installation and a group exhibit of folkloric art.
On display October 17 - November 5.
In this exhibit, artists share their interpretations of the cultural roots and evolution of the Day of the Dead tradition, from its pre-Hispanic origins to colonial and modern times. Highlighting the culture and history of Mexican communities to celebrate how the Day of the Dead brings families, friends, and communities together to honor the past.

Last week in Washington, D.C., the Professional Non-Profit Theatre Coalition (of which PCS is a founding member and on the steering committee) and speaker Lin-Manuel Miranda met with the Biden-Harris Administration’s Commitment to the Arts and Humanities to introduce a legislative plan to increase funding to American nonprofit performing arts organizations.
We are hopeful that this meeting brought to the White House staff's attention the precarious state of American theater and will be a boon in the effort of Lin-Manuel Miranda, Phylicia Rashad, Senator Amy Klobuchar and others who are proposing further funding for theaters across the country.

The mixed media collage uses images from nature to represent our city's residents and the ways that their lives intersect. "Meet Me At The Center" celebrates Portland's diversity and the dynamic energy generated by an exchange of ideas and a shared experience.

Enjoy the cool, summertime vibes at JAW with a performance by Portland-based multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Jermaine, lead singer for The Kinky Brothers. Jermaine builds grooves with his loop pedal as the sound bed for his guitar-led songs about life and love, including covers and original tunes.

Enjoy live flamenco dance and instrumentation during Espacio Flamenco’s special Tablao Flamenco PCS, where improvisational performances will showcase the dynamic interplay between the music and dance of this multicultural art form. Portland Center Stage at The Armory inspires our community by bringing stories to life in unexpected ways. It is the largest theater company in Portland and among the top 20 regional theaters in the country. Established in 1988 as a branch of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the company became independent in 1994. Around 150,000 visitors attend The Armory annually to enjoy a mix of classic, contemporary and world premiere productions, along with the annual JAW: A Playwrights Festival, and a variety of high quality education and community programs. Home to two theaters, The Armory was the first building on the National Register of Historic Places — and the first performing arts venue in the country — to achieve a LEED Platinum rating.

🎤Yesterday I spoke to the wonderful residents of the Mirabella retirement housing community! And today I played a high school matinee audience. We all lived through the pandemic so we have that touchstone in common when I present this show on now until December 18 at Portland Center Stage

💰HOW DO I RELAX ON MY DAY OFF AFTER DOING 7 shows a week at Portland Center Stage? BY RIFLING THROUGH CRAP HEADED TO A LANDFILL AND BUYING THE GOOD S**T THEN DONATING IT TO ASYLUM SEEKERS.💰
It's now that mad rush time of year but make sure to find some time to slow down and rest by taking in a live music show. There's no better way to lift your spirits and make you feel alive than live music. Here are a few ideas for the coming week from Teri Briggs and Teri's Tunes Pdx:

Ellen Whyte will be at Corkscrew Wine Bar for the Ellen Whyte and Garry Meziere show, 7 p.m.

The Atlantis Underground - Songwriter Sessions will be at Atlantis Lounge, 7 p.m.
WEDNESDAY:
The Blue Diamond PDX is the place to be because Lisa Mann and Lara Price are teaming up again in the Lara Price & Lisa Mann show, 7 p.m.
FRIDAY:
Katelyn Convery Music and band will be at Alberta Street Pub, 9-11 p.m.
Kevin Selfe and The Tornadoes will be at Arrivederci Wine and Jazz Bar for the Kevin Selfe at Arrivederci! show, 7 p.m.
Kathryn Claire Music will perform her wonderful album, 'Winter Songs,' at a house concert, Kathryn Claire ~ Winter Songs, 7:30 p.m.
Lisa mann, Lloyd Jones, and Mark Shark will be at Artichoke Music for the First Fridays w/ Lloyd Jones + Lisa Mann & Mark Shark show, 7 p.m.

Petty Fever - Tom Petty Tribute will be At The Garages Music Venue Eatery & Taphouse for the Petty Fever [Tom Petty tribute] at At The Garages show, 8 p.m.
The Druthers are back at Alberta Pub for Druthers 1st Saturday Matinees show, 4-6 p.m.
Shvvvr will be at Old Town Coffee for the Phoenix Nights w/Blacque Butterfly & Shvvvr show, 7 p.m.
The We Can Listen series is back!! WE CAN LISTEN: CULINARY CULTURE + COMMUNITY will be at The Old Church Concert Hall, 7 p.m. Hosted by Julianne R Johnson, this event will highlight Oregon’s Black food systems, and explore the systemic inequities and disadvantages that Black farmers deal with in the agricultural industry. Speakers will also shed light on the achievements made by Black farmers in local cultivation, climate justice and food access.
This panel will include farmers, food industry experts, agricultural professionals, activists and historians from the Pacific Northwest. Each guest will tell their stories from personal experiences in the food industry, and then participate in the panel.
It's going to be a dance party because Far Out West and Eldridge Gravy & the Court Supreme are back at Goodfoot Pub & Lounge for the Eldridge Gravy + Far Out West @ Goodfoot! show, 7 p.m.
Floater will be at Crystal Ballroom for the Floater performs Pink Floyd's 'Animals' - Crystal Ballroom show, 4 p.m.
