Friday, October 9th 🎶 Salinas Road brings folk-country songs of longing, quiet love, memory, and regret to the room… warm, spare, and built for listeners who want to lean in.

Formed by longtime collaborators Paul Cruz and Bill Jones, Salinas Road pairs acoustic guitar, harmonica, and weathered harmonies with songwriting that recalls Townes Van Zandt, The Milk Carton Kids, and Gillian Welch.

Their breakout single “Lonely” has passed 400k organic streams, while newer songs like “See the Water” keep digging into hope, distance, and the lives people imagine for themselves.

Their performances feel less like showcases and more like conversations… intimate, unhurried, and grounded in the kind of connection that grows slowly.

This is a great local group doing great work in the Portland area. Sign up to be a performer if you feel drawn. And tell people you know about this organization.

Some musicians spend a lifetime learning how to make every note matter.

Mark Shark is one of them. Over five decades in music, he's played with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Taj Mahal, Jesse Ed Davis, and John Trudell. He's written books on alternate tunings and taught guitar to a generation of players. And now, we're lucky to have him bring that same craft into rooms where music can comfort someone in their final days.

There's a particular kind of listening that happens in these concerts. The musician isn't performing to a crowd. They're playing for a specific person, and their loved ones, in a space that calls for something honest. Mark's decades of experience, and the depth of feeling he brings to every note, are exactly what these moments need.

This is the work we're doing. A gift of $300 makes a concert like this possible. Click the link below to become a Songbird.

An almost acoustic power trio for the 21st century with guitar, fretless bass, and percussion.

Michael Manring has been pushing the boundaries of the fretless bass for over 40 years and is considered one of the great bass players in the history of the instrument. He has played with many many greats including Michael Hedges (which led to a long stint as house bassist for Windham Hill Records), Suzanne Ciani, Henry Kaiser, John Gorka, Thomas Dolby to name a few.

Tony Kaltenberg is one of the most unique sounding fingerstyle guitarists on the circuit with mesmerizing percussive, tapping and fingerstyle techniques. He composes most of the instrumental music the trio plays and is celebrated in both the US and Europe.

Jarrod Kaplan is an irreplaceable force of nature on percussion with a setup that includes djembe, anklets, cymbals among other ear candy. He has also played with many greats including Trillian Green, the String Cheese Incident, the California Guitar Trio, and as percussionist with Cirque du Soleil.

Get ready for a transcendental evening, going places you’ve never gone before. It is indeed an almost acoustic groove experience!

Saturday, October 3rd 🎶 Wichita brings decades of Northwest roots music into the room… groove-forward, loose around the edges, and built on the kind of chemistry that only comes from a lifetime of playing.

Wichita
Lauren Sheehan and Pete Krebs bring more than 70 years of combined performing and recording experience to this free-range roots duo. Known for their instrumental prowess, vintage instruments, warm vocals, quirky repertoire, and wide-ranging material, they move easily between folk, blues, country, and whatever else the night calls for.

Expect guitars, lap steel, mandolin, harmony singing, and a set that leaves plenty of room for spontaneity.

A night for listeners who love seasoned players, deep roots, and music that still feels playful.

Catch Zach Bailey, Jon Meyer from Talk Station, and Sayings for this special event.

Zach Bailey (he/they) is a small town, assigned boy at birth, raised in the bright lights on stage. Forged in the LA open mic scene, Zach’s tender, reflective songs weave inherited legends into personal narrative, which ask the question, what are the threads that bring us together.

Zach is one of the founders of Lazy River Presents, where he has hosted a songwriter’s open mic for the past three years, first at The Silverlake Lounge and now at The Fable. His previous single “See Ya Next Time” was a finalist in 88.5 FM The Socal Sound’s 2024 “Next Big Sound”. His debut record is anticipated for release early 2027.
‍
Zach continues to write and record with their community of collaborators and is set to take his stories on the road this Fall.

Tuesday, September 29th 🎶 Rosine brings a fresh vision of Americana and folk to the room… combining memorable melodies, exploratory harmonies, instrumental virtuosity, and songwriting rooted in both tradition and possibility.

Rosine
Nashville-based duo Forrest and Meredith Lane O’Connor joined forces in 2025 around a shared vision for what folk music can sound like in the 21st century.

Forrest is a Tennessee State Mandolin Champion who has collaborated with Paul Simon, Zac Brown, Steve Martin & Martin Short, Emmylou Harris, and Béla Fleck. As a member of the Grammy-winning O’Connor Band, he helped create Coming Home, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums chart.

Meredith built her songwriting voice in rural Enterprise, Oregon, collaborating with artists including Grammy winner Zach Top and Billboard chart-toppers Joseph.

Now recording their debut album for Compass Records, Rosine brings two remarkable musical paths together into something distinctly their own.
