IMPORTANT NEWS:

After 48 magical years, Tears of Joy Theatre has retired.

A heartfelt thank you to our audience members, our supporters, and to the schools who kept our vision alive for so long.

Our legacy continues on through the many talented puppeteers and artists who have wandered through our doors over the years and through the thriving puppetry community that has taken root here in Portland and beyond.

Ms. Le Guin has passed.

We here have a special fondness for her stories. Whether it was a favorite story, "Buffalo Gals, Won't You Come Out Tonight" or the adaption for the stage of "To Ride the Red Mare".

May your talent be long lived. You are missed.

Ms. Le Guin brought literary elegance and a feminist sensibility to science fiction and fantasy tales, drawing millions of readers around the world.

Hey.
Tuesday is giving Tuesday.

We could really use a four new LED Par lights and a few other things that go with them. The total is $1500. There are 2300 of you now following our wonderful page (thank you). If each of you gave a $1 we could meet our Artistic DIrector's need for new theatrical lighting and we wouldn't have clutter the field with "please help" messages. Plus, I believe that we're on the Facebook matching fund. That could be a newer computer for this next team.
That is if everyone gave a $1. Imagine what would happen if you gave $2?

Maybe our Artistic Director would crack a smile.
Ha, ha. I doubt it.

Once again, the puppets reigned supreme at Puppets VS People. Many thanks to the extremely talented and hilarious humans from Comedy Sportz/CSZ Portland. It was a real nail-biter this year. Special shout out to Amy ‘Zing’ Gray for captaining the fluff to victory and to Patrick ‘Electric’ Short for his most excellent reffing!
