I’m sorry, I realize I’ve never really introduced myself..

I’m , I’m the founder of The Nest, which is an online platform for music industry education & artist growth.

The Nest Online Platform consists of 8 people, each with their own unique set of music industry credentials.

Aside from being the founder of this platform, I also am a performer, entrepreneur, and singer-songwriter located in Maine!

When I’m not singing with , making content for this page, or producing videos for or , I spend plenty of time hiking, camping in my renovated van , playing golf, snowboarding, traveling, playing board games with friends, going on runs, working out, reading, and hanging out with my girlfriend Kelcey and our dog Ollie!

I’ve been in the industry for over a decade and have been fortunate to have many amazing opportunities!

When I quit my day job 7 years ago to pursue a career in music full time, I never looked back.

Since I quit my job I’ve:

✅ played thousands of shows
✅ written hundreds of songs
✅ had multiple six figure years in my music businesses.
✅ Travelled the world playing music & connecting with people

These are the good things.

But of course, there’s always a downside.

When I first launched my career, I ALSO had many problems:

❌I was $15,000 in Credit card debt
❌I was in a terrible mental & emotional state
❌I was in it for the wrong reasons
❌Failed on my first 4 businesses and lost thousands of dollars in the process.

The truth is, the music industry is HARD!

With every success comes an equally large challenge to overcome.

And that’s the point of this page!

We’re here to help YOU craft your unique place on this earth.

Launching a music business, like any business, requires a plan, a mission, and an overall roadmap of WHAT you need to do and WHY. 🗺

Here is my advice on what to AVOID when launching your music business:

❌Waiting until everything is perfect.
❌Listening to what other people think is best for you
❌Having a “if I build it, they will come” mindset
❌Spending 100% of your budget on recording
❌Wasting your time on things of marginal value (law of diminishing returns?)

Have you ever wondered what it takes to start a music business? 👀

Starting any business is not that hard. Where most people get lost is right at the beginning because they skip the basics and don’t even realize it 🤷🏽‍♂️

Whether your goal is to become a professional songwriter, a gigging musician, or a professional audio engineer, the beginning foundation remains the same. 💪🏽

Hands-down, the most important thing that any business needs is a solid reason why they are doing business ‼️

This can be particularly helpful if you can figure out a problem that you’re solving with in the market. 📈

For example, when Bruno Mars entered the main stream music world , there weren’t many other artists that were doing main stream modern disco, sounding songs with soulful Pop vocals on them. 🎙️

This is just one out of an infinite number of examples…and YOU have something special inside too! But ONLY YOU possess it. 🧐

That said, there are only three things that you need to make sure that your music business is successful :

1️⃣ your product.
2️⃣ your offer.
3️⃣ your unique selling proposition.

Although these things don’t necessarily make your business successful, without these three things, your business does not have the ability to succeed. 🌈
