Winter’s Tale presented by Oregon Adventure Theatre was truly magical.

I had the good fortune to see these talented actors in this beautiful production this weekend, just a few blocks from my home up on Springville Hill.

OAT will be performing Shakespeare’s beloved tragicomedy all summer long at various parks and outdoor spaces. Support local theatre and treat yourself to a truly unique summer experience if you can. We had a blast. Oh, and did I mention it’s free? No cost admission. You can’t beat that. ☀️

Are you on an improv team? In a sketch group? Performing stand-up? An actor looking to explore your inner clown? Or a student of any of these mediums interested in exploring character work?

If any of these questions sound familiar, then my workshop on Creating Comedy Characters could be just right for you!

In this 3-hour workshop you’ll learn to tap into your own hidden characters with physical and vocal adjustments, catch-phrases and distinct gestures. We’ll explore the world these characters live in and create backstories to draw upon when playing them. By the end of the workshop you’ll walk away with at least 3 unique comedy characters to use in improv sets, sketches, stand-up, and comedic script work.

When: Sunday, May 4th.
Time: 11-2pm
Where: Spotlight Studio—1123 SE Market St. Portland
Cost: $50

The reviews are in!
Krista Garver from Broadway World writes:

If I could pick one show that I think people need to see right now, it’s Jane Wagner’s masterpiece THE SEARCH FOR SIGNS OF INTELLIGENT LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE.
There is no better person to take up the mantle today than Brooke Totman, an actor I’ve seen on stage only once before, several years ago, but that performance still haunts me for its sheer rawness of emotion. Here, Totman displays that same emotional depth while also being extremely funny. She skillfully brings each character to vivid life while maintaining the intricate threads that connect their stories. I wanted to spend more time with all of them.

The Search for Signs runs today at 2:00, and next Thursday-Sunday.

Only 5 shows left until we close! Tickets at: 21ten.org

Performance opportunities for actors!!

Friends and neighbors of The Brooke Totman Acting Studio—Deep End Theatre, are throwing up a new night of live performance. Actors need an audience, and oftentimes that’s hard to find, so when an opportunity presents itself, I jump on it. We need to share our creativity! That’s the fastest way to grow. 💫

Have an improv team? A monologue? A scene? A sketch? A new acoustic song? A story?
A poem? Share it with an audience at Skinny Dip! Monday nights in April, 7:00 p.m. To sign up just write [email protected] with your interest.

A few shots from last night’s tech rehearsal.
Set design by the insanely talented who managed to throw this up in 48 hours!

It’s been an absolute joy, and a bit overwhelming, bringing this solo show to life. I cannot imagine getting through it without the vision, talent and consistent kindness of my director, Samantha Van Der Merwe from
She’s amazing.

I hope this show brings a laugh or two, to its audience. And I hope the bigger questions it poses, leave them thinking, the next day. (I’ll settle for just the laughs, though). 🌟✨⭐️
