Was able to make it down to San Diego to say “goodbye til’ we meet again” to our friend and Mermaid Queen Patty Kelley.
Hadn’t been to the casbah probably since I last lived there over thirty years ago.
Had fun reminiscing the fun times we had when we were younger. Hearing folks get up on stage and share their memories and thoughts on how Patty had affected their lives.
She was the shining star. Always kept light on to the darkest days. Found the best in most all things. Thriving to keep a positive attitude and look on life. She made you feel seen. Couldn’t recall her ever saying a poor word on anyone. She was a force of life! And a force in passing. Fly free lady bird!

Thank you Fip, Peggy, Meagan, Pym, the Avalon crew and everyone else that put the energy into helping the rest of us join you in sending her off with love.

*thank you to those that bought machines from my collection so I could fly to say goodbye. I wouldn’t have been able to go if you hadn’t of helped jumping in on my fire sale.
Puppy love and celebration of life worthy!

Fly Free Patty.
We sure had fun and made the most of it when we could.
I am grateful to have ran a bit wild with you when we were younger. Your drive for life was intoxicating. The experience of balancing the finer things in life searching for golden hearts and memories worth remembering. From back yard punk rock parties, swing dancing the night away at rockabilly gigs, to convention shenanigans, diving shipwrecks in the gulf to blasting around the Everglades in search of alligators and butterflies. We took some trips! And shared some laughs.
Even some heart breaking times together.
It’s been a long while since last we connected.
Really sorry for that. Thankful to Judy for sharing updates on her visits with you.
Sad to read of your passing.
But I know you were too free spirited to be held down long.
Til’ we meet again.
Love always.
My condolences to Fip, the Avalon crew, your closest friends and other family members.

ps.
Thank you for the door you kicked open for the rest of the grrrls to come through. You did more than most to elevate a seat at the table for all of us.

RESCUED HEARTS (2025) is a powerful new documentary that attempts to uncover the miracles, mystery, and science of healing with horses. Inspired by a life-changing moment when a 7-year-old child diagnosed with autism spoke his first words while interacting with a horse, filmmakers Dana Croschere and Krisanna Sexton set out to explore the profound and often miraculous connection between horses and humans.

Presented by On Golden Rescue, coming to the theater Sunday February 22nd at 1:00 PM, tickets and info at cstpdx.com

Damn it.
I just talked to you Wednesday!
We hung up promising to call more often.
Thank you for telling me you love me.
So happy I got to tell you that myself.
Man what was that word your mom caught you saying with a Boston accent? God that made me laugh.
I admitted how easily it happened to me just hanging out there for a few days at a time. I’d come home with new slang and my words all flipping out my mouth sideways. I figured it was like learning music. Something caught up in the ear.
I asked you if you had been playing your guitar. And you said you’ve been looking at it at the end of your bed but hadn’t played in a while. Of course we spoke about your son. You always lit up talking about him. The love. It shined through the phone. Thank you for introducing him to me at the Potrero skate park when he was an itty bitty. You said you wanted me to meet him. I’m so happy I did. I hope I will have the opportunity to meet him again. He’s who I’m worried about right now. I know he’s got an army of folks that love him and will help him through this. But man Iggy. I thought for sure you’d stay for him. I’m confused. I know you went there. Into the deepest darkness you could possibly find. I just didn’t believe you’d stay. I’m grateful I got to talk to you before you left. I’m very grateful actually. If I hadn’t. I’d probably just be mad at you. This. Is different. I’m truly sad. You didn’t want to stick around any longer. I’ll miss you my sweet friend. Please find peace wherever you go. We’ll keep the light on. Vibrantly.
We sure were fun when we were young.

Thank you Quanie for the beautiful photos!
Made me blush!
Came home from “horsing around” as Bruce likes to call it. You know getting checked by Mother Nature! It does me a bunch of good. Best therapy I’ve ever had.
Found a photo of Sharon, Deanna and I at the last Nationals get together. Had to post it for memory sake! Time flies and we aren’t sissies to the pain of it all. Life goes on and I cherish the times we’ve had together.
My pal Pamela rode her bike out to meet up with us at horse camp again. Been a couple years since her last time joining the horsey folk. Love that she rolls out on her own and is self contained! I worry of course when we don’t have comms in the mountains. But she made it! Hung tight and watched us slave away for our beasties.
Had an adventurous ride with my friend Eliza.
Nothing quite like riding next to a mountain made of obsidian. Leveled up a few notches on that little detour. Refreshed. Looking forward to turning this fire ball of energy in my hands back into my works this coming week.
Stay sharp.

Old and new pals.
Decades of stories spill out like popped water beds recently trampled on by feral cats.
Finished up two paintings this past week and got two more to go. With this bunch.
Having fun translating odd camera catches into paint and imprinting the effects onto my brain. Hopefully.
My mantra after too much focus. Loosen up.
Everything is questionable these days.
Memories are getting a bit fuzzy.
Maybe they always were.
It’s always been the moral of the story for me.
Not the names involved, the dates or the times.
What did I get from that interaction?
What did I learn?
Was there any meat on the bones to savor?
Were there memories worth remembering?
Human interactions seem to be my greatest challenge. Most are good. Some are awful.
To not get caught up in the story lines.
Not get caught up as a stand in or worse, in someone’s else’s ill played theater.
Past the hubris of it all.
Just got no time to support anything that lacks substance. No fake it til you make it’s.
It’s always been “work hard and make it happen”.

Thankful to be seen. Thankful to be loved.
Grateful for this one human precious life experience.
