Animalia Art

Animalia Art This is a page dedicated to showcasing the latest animal portraits from Jessica Rhys' Animalia Art. This page is devoted to the paintings of Jessica Rhys.

"My art is all created as a prayer, a devotion, a giving of gratitude, and ideally an inspiration for humanity to honor our interdependent relationships with the other beings of this world. Most of my paintings are inspired by dreams or real life encounters that I have with animals, and I also draw upon archetypal knowledge of animals spirits from Native American and international shamanic teachings."

Hope to see you there! I’ll have mulled wine and cookies and a puppy!! (For reals. I know puppies are more exciting than art for most of us, but I want everyone to know that I did not procure him especially for this sale. Though he does kind of make it worth the trip... )

I have a bunch of larger pieces that are finished and up for sale at Albina Press on Hawthorne in PDX. This is one of them, from a whale dream that I had. It’s painted on a handmade, hand carved maple and oak panel in oil paint and gold leaf. The show also features the really fun work of the cool and quirky coastal Oregon artist Ben Soeby. It’ll be up through December.

Tiny fuzzy needle felted winter wren with a halo. I like to canonize all of my animals. This one is headed to Artistic Portland for sale tomorrow! I’m thinking of adding a few of these in my Etsy shop. A flutter of tiny wings to beat the dust away in there.

I’m headed to the high desert instead of the mall today, but if you are into shopping shop local! Head to Artistic Portland. These are some of my prints, stickers and cards, I’ve got originals there too, and there are many other lovely local handmade items at very reasonable prices. It’s like an awesome local craft fair that is open every day! Support local artists and shop local!

I do actually sell art. I forget to mention that. I have these holiday card packs and quite a few other things available daily at Artistic Portland in downtown PDX at SW Taylor and 2nd. There are a lot of other lovely things here that I didn’t make, but which someone you know will be happy to receive as a present, and a local artist will be happy that you bought them.
