Ravenwood: Cemetery of the Witches In the shadow of Powell-Butte lies the graveyard for all the witches, villians, and other evils, of the stories you grew up with. They really happened.

On Halloween you are invited to stroll the graveyard of all those who ever challenged "happily ever after." Many believe fairy tales are made up. That these are simply fictional stories passed down from generation to generation, designed to teach children about moral lessons of good and evil. But the former owners of Ravenwood know better. These so called "fairy tales" are modern adaptations of ac

tual events. Magic is real. And the beings who could master it were dangerous, dark, and often described as "evil." Ravenwood is the resting place for those mystically powerful ones. At first things seemed fine. It was a place of haunting beauty, and peace. A sanctuary for the families of the forsaken. But as the graveyard grew things began to happen. Noises could be heard late in the night. Children mysteriously disappeared. Things were seen that could never be explained, or even proven to have happened at all. And fear began to rule. This cemetery was closed in order to keep the towns children safe from the mystical powers that rest here. But once a year, in the season of All Hallows Eve the gates are unlocked. The veil holding the magical ones at bay is at it's thinnest, and the balance between good and evil is at its most precarious. And you are invited. Tread softly. Keep a watchful eye. Touch nothing, and we pray nothing will touch you.......

Rumors and fairy tales are just one sided accounts of the story, often exaggerated, sensationalized, and completely made up.

Who is villain and who is hero is simply a product of who is telling the story. Rumors of my evilness could in fact be the rantings of the true evil who must discredit me to cover their own lack of accountability, deceit, manipulation, and evil.

You hate us because you know we are the ones who are really free. No longer bound to society's rules and expectations, we can do whatever we want because we are already judged for things we never did.

You created a narrative that made us magical and mythical. All because reality would make you less.

And we have come to terms with the lies, for you made us villains with your false words.

We made ourselves powerful by embracing the darkness those words created.

And then the world that believed the darkness made us icons...

Important...

Unforgettable...

Immortal...

And you will always be a liar whose only strength comes in destroying another persons name.

You will always be the fool who failed to be worthy of being our sidekick.

How sad for you. How evil of us to leave you behind.

I will let you have the narrative that I did it all. Because your lies will never change the actual truth. I enjoy being the villain in your story, because I know what would happen to you if I ever told mine...

2024 Ravenwood is taking a break for a revamp. This involves an entire yard makeover and plans for a bigger better display and more opportunities to interact. So while this Halloween the witches will go dark - they will be back next year - with vengeance.

We have a little tree frog 🐸 at the pond! We've been listening to him ribbit his tiny face off for the last 3 nights. His name is "Splat" and we will be calling all his children

We are back witches!!!!

Some angry wasps that went into assault mode halfway through set up today. It delayed things and complicated the set up of the sisters and our lighting. I'm a little sore from today's 8 stings so I will let it be for now and live to fight another day....

I hear the weather is going to take a turn tonight so we won't be fully set up and completed repair work till next weekend. And then we can start some new projects!!!

Unable to do fog and some effects tonight - too much rain and it's too stormy for the Ember witch to be out.

This year we are open for trick or treating even though we haven't been able to do as much in the cemetery as planned.

Throw back to The Ember and her Fire Demon joining the cemetery crew last year. Unfortunately we took a lot of damage in the wind storms last october and these two suffered the most. The Ember needs minor repairs and will return soon. But the Fire Demon has a broken spine and is beyond fixing. I am planning a complete restructure of him and hopefully he will still make an appearance this season.
