To all my job-having friends out there that might feel like they are paying way too much in taxes this year: you could lighten that burden and put you hard-earned money to work in the community with a tax-deductible donation to your favorite local arts nonprofit Portal Arts Collective!

Your donation will be used to buy materials and pay our amazing artist crew to create our new sculptural installations that will be shared with thousands of art-loving visitors for FREE this February at Portland Winter Lights Festival. This year we are joining forces with Roboto Octopodo, creating an immersive environment inside a vacant downtown department store! We will be debuting a combination of some of our greatest pieces from the last several years with some brand new sculptural environments. This will be a tremendous amount of work and we’re very excited about this spectacular collaboration!

In addition to creating large-scale sculpture, Portal Arts Collective also runs a free community food market from our southeast shop every Tuesday, diverting over 2000 pounds of food per week from the landfill! This past year we distributed over 100,000 pounds of food to the people who needed it most in our community. This is greatly rewarding work, and we do it because we love it and want to make our world a better place. so join the fun and support this essential work of urban revitalization!

Hello hive mind!
I'm looking for a graphic designer / book maker to help me put together a portfolio /promo pack/ brochure for a reasonable price for portal arts collective. I have the a rough draft of written content and pictures, I need help putting it together and making it look super pro!
I would love to get it going soon, so send me some leads !

Golden Valentine’s Day 2019 memories of the cosmic fire turtles triumphant debut at portland winter light fest then going on to win an award at winterfest nw in bend ! Big thanks to the portal crew for working so hard on the mighty turtle , to doernbechers children’s hospital for the opportunity to make art with the amazing youth and to our sponsons on patrion , Alberta rose theater and portland home solutions for their generous tax deductible donation to our little arts organization, Thanks! Have you ever noticed our human society has created a completely unsustainable world of material goods created from valuable resources to be used once and then thrown away? As artists and designers we know there has to be better ways to get our society's needs met without destroying the environment that gives us life.

That’s why we started the Portal Arts Collective , to transforms trash into art in order to educate communities about the process of creative material reuse and our environmental impact, advancing a regenerative future that is focused on personal accountability and collective action.

To do this we are creating art out of discarded materials, considered by many to be unusable trash. We want people to see that with a little thoughtful effort, they can build their own world with reusable items already on hand. We believe it is an artist's roll as a cultural lens to help people see that the longevity of material goods can be extended indefinitely through creative reuse. Opening our collective minds to recycling and reuse allows us to create art with a purpose that is greater than the sum of its parts.

These sculptures will then be displayed at festivals and public places and shared to the global community through social media to inspire as many people as possible to make positive change in their communities!
