Congratulations to Ellie Schwartz '26! Ellie reflects on her experience in the theatre department: “Voice and Movement, Playwriting, and the Oregon Shakespeare class were the most valuable classes I took during my time here. Voice and Movement stretched my abilities as a performer and taught me new ways of using my voice and body; Playwriting awoke a new love of playwriting that I felt emboldened to explore; and the OSF class was aligned perfectly with my interests and allowed me to spend a whole summer immersed in what I love best.” Ellie wrote a new play, "Phantasmagoria" for the thesis festival that opened to rave reviews. We all hope to see Ellie's work on stage in the future!

Congratulations to Samantha Knofler '26, pictured here in her Thesis festival production of "Commencement" on the day of Lewis & Clark College's commencement! A theatre performance major, Samantha also gained valuable design skills as a theatre major: “Theatre Design gave me the opportunity to engage with my visual art skills and a kind of creativity that, before, I’d discounted. Miranda supported me, helped me grow, and was always incredibly kind. I regularly use tools I learned in this class for my own design work, even when it’s not theatre-based.”

Congratulations to Marion Richardson-Beatty '26! Marion has been key for design tech in many productions over the past four years, coming to the theatre with a background in physics: “My work outside the theatre, mainly in the physics department, has also informed my design/production work. Physics provides a set of tools for looking at the world very different from theatre work, which often helped me think outside the box and get new perspectives on design work. On the production side, a little physics knowledge has been very helpful for understanding lighting and sound.”

Congratulations to Quinn Newberry '26! Quinn is an incredible artist and human, and has brought so much energy and talent to Fir Acres Theatre over these past four years. “Every single production that I've worked on at this college has taught me something monumental. Some of the things I've learned don't always pertain to theater, but I've learned nonetheless.”

Congratulations to Gianvito Cassanelli '26! Gianvito reflects on LC's theatre program: “It was also beyond important to find an environment that was interested in artists as people. For instance, it was very valuable for me to be appreciated for my movement capabilities, despite my lack of experience in “traditional” dance styles.” Gianvito, you have so much heart as an artist and person- always there with a smile and lifting others up as well. (Sometimes literally lifting them up!) Keep on moving and dancing and creating!
