Chimera Theatre Collective

Chimera Theatre Collective We take pride in creating projects that highlight new and overlooked works, voices, and ideas. Chimera:
1. ("Chimera". Merriam-Webster.)

We aim to take the theatrical road less taken as often as possible while constantly working toward making the uncommon common. a fire-breathing monster in Greek mythology having a lion's head, a goat's body, and a serpent's tail.
- an imaginary monster compounded of incongruous parts
2. an illusion or fabrication of the mind; especially: an unrealizable dream.
3. an individual, organ, or part cons

isting of tissues of diverse genetic constitution
4. A Portland, Maine-based theatre collective creating unique theatrical events that challenge our approach of theatre in all its forms.

Less than two days until SOME ASSEMBLY RE-CHOIRED | Chimera Theatre Collective as part of PortFringe - Maine's Fringe Festival, and we've built out a playlist on Spotify of some songs that we feel set the vibe for how Saturday night's 10pm performance at The Apohadion! (And who knows, maybe there's a preview of some of the songs we'll be touching upon during the show in this playlist! You'll have to listen -- and attend -- to find out!)

Tickets can be bought via PortTIX at the link on the event, are $20 each unless you buy three (go see other shows!), where you'll get a multi-ticket discount, OR buy a Fringe Binge pass to see all 20 events/24 productions -- the first 10 Bingers get guaranteed entry to our Late Night and all other Late Night shows!!

What’s that? Do you hear the voices sing? Not yet? Well maybe there’s a reason! The voices need YOU!

We are excited to present SOME ASSEMBLY RE-CHOIRED as a ONE NIGHT ONLY Late Night event on Saturday, June 21st at 10pm at in Portland led by Chris DeFilipp (). Yes it’s pride night in Portland. Yes it’s the Solstice. Yes we will probably be singin’ at least a little protest music (you’ll have to come to find out!). And yes it will be worth your 75 minutes.

This show is interactive (in that in order for the choir to exist and the show to work you must participate at least a little!), and will include most likely adult language and some references to the state of the world we are living in today. The world sucks right now, and one of the most powerful things we can do is join in community and lift our voices together in music and in life.

Tickets are $20/each but if you buy 3 or more Fringe tickets and see other shows, you get a discount! Or get a Fringe Binge pass for the ultimate savings AND support all our fellow artists and the amazing work they’re also doing!

More to come!

We're excited to finally see this see the dark of night (because it'll be dark out) after needing to postpone two weeks ago due to weather! And it's looking like we won't have rain to worry about, so please come on down to Lincoln Park and The Thirsty Pig tonight, Monday 11/7 for some Edgar Allan Poe-tally Awesome (and dreary spooky) stories! Pay What You Decide!

Let’s try this again, shall we 👀

✨Once upon a Portland evening,
we will wander through the city…✨

Next Monday, November 7, we’ll gather at 6pm near the large mill-stone at the corner of Congress and Pearl St, and will travel through Lincoln Park to hear the eerie Notes in the Case of M Valdemar and and the haunting story of The Tell-Tale Heart. Then we’ll head to The Thirsty Pig to learn about the mysterious nature of The Man in the Crowd. Stick around after the performances to enjoy some spirits of a less frightening nature from The Thirsty Pig 🍻

This event is “Pay What You Decide” and all are welcome!

Our little show from is among some FANTASTIC performances we’ve been seeing all week. Come either Saturday 2 July at 9pm or Sunday 3 July at 5pm and see a different cast of folks from across the festival joining Chris, Tara, and Natalie in the chaos.
