MANY THANKS first to our wonderfully talented cast... our Emcee Extraordinaire Kaye ThxBye who guided us effortlessly through other galaxies and magical realms through readings and performances, all with her perfect charm and charisma! THANK YOU ALSO to our Burlesque Artists Ruby Mimosa, Lady Drew Blood, Anna Nymph, Angelique DeVil, Asteria Atombomb, Lavish The'Jewel, Sherwood Ryder, The Infamous Nina Nightshade, Mismonsta/ Elena Fowler, and Sneaky Boo for bringing the house down with your epic performances!

Professional readers, actors, and/or local authors & writers read aloud a piece of poetry, fiction, memoir, non-fiction, etc, which is then followed by a burlesque, boylesque, and/or draglesque performance inspired by the piece. Nightshade Conservatory is a burlesque education and entertainment hub based in beautiful Portland, Oregon, with options to learn both in person and online. Led by Headmistress The Infamous Nina Nightshade, who has almost 20 years of experience in the world of burlesque, the conservatory offers a variety of ways to explore this captivating art form, no matter where you’re joining from.

Nightshade Conservatory hosts monthly group workshops, 1:1 sessions, private parties, and classes with both local and traveling guest instructors. Monthly classes and 1:1 sessions are available online as well as in the studio, making it easy to learn from anywhere. Professor Laurie Kurutz is a theatrical costume-maker by trade, specializing in period costumes and custom bespoke menswear at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Seattle Opera, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and many other Tony Award-winning theatres. At Southern Oregon University, she taught courses on costume technology, fashion in Western culture, and U.S. Burlesque History. Her YouTube channel, Laurie Kurutz, features tutorials which support her costume construction courses. She regularly presents on costuming and Burlesque history at national theatre and educational conferences. Her signature scholarship work to date is the oral history archive, Voices of Oregon Burlesque, comprised of 32 video interviews with contemporary Oregon burlesque performers, producers, and makers. She has contributed two interviews to the BurlyCon Legend’s Archive featuring Legends Velvet Ice and Eartha Quake. She was the Guest of Honor Speaker at BurlyCon 2024. Laurie organized and hosted the 2023 Oregon premiere of the documentary What the Funk?! a Love Letter to the BIPOC Community.
