We are proud to announce this year’s casting! Each participant has now been cast into their shows and will begin rehearsals. This year’s shows are Charlotte’s web, Villain School, and Little Women then and Now. Stay tuned for all the details.

It was a crazy night for our Summer Theater kiddos that went on a field trip to see Pride and Prejudice at the MSU Theater Dept. A big thank you to them for a fantastic night of many laughs! And a big thank you to our directors and board member Laurie Reeves for making sure everyone was safe when mother nature decided to get a little crazy!

Our Summer Theatre participants practiced focus under pressure, physical characterization, and building trust. We also spent time bonding between sessions as we got into our color groups! Having a blast already!

Join us for a fabulous night of food AND entertainment! Portland’s Stardust Diner will be officially be open at the VFW on June 26 from 5:00-7:30. With awesome food you will be entertained all night with surprise songs and performers. And every dinner comes with dessert! See you there!!!

Summer Theatre 2026 is off to a fantastic start! Today participants spent time getting to know the directors and their fellow thespians while practicing physicality, focus, the classic improv rule of saying “Yes, let’s!” If today is any indication, we’re going to have an amazing summer!

Attention Summer Theater Participants and Parents! We are just a few days away from the start of our 2026 program and can't wait to get started! Here is the schedule for the FIRST week:

Session 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 - Grades 4, 5, 6 and 7
Session 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 - Grades 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12

Calendars will be going home on day 1 so make sure to look out for them.

🎭 Meet the Directors of Summer Theater 2026! ☀️

We’re excited to introduce the incredible directors leading this year’s Portland Civic Players Summer Theater Program! These talented individuals are ready to help our young performers learn, grow, and shine on stage this summer.

From building confidence and creativity to making lifelong memories, our directors are passionate about creating a fun, welcoming, and inspiring experience for every student involved. 💛

Today we highlight Marriah Lawler!!!

Marriah is thrilled to be joining this year’s program as a director! Growing up, she was an active participant in Summer Theater and P*P productions, where her love for theater first began. While attending Grand Valley State University, she continued exploring that passion through classes in theater production and costume design. Outside of her professional life she enjoys crafty hobbies, taking walks with her dogs, and cozying up with a good book. For Marriah, directing is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with the Portland community while doing something she truly loves!

Today we highlight Logan Reeves!!!

Logan is a past Summer Theater thespian and director who has been involved in numerous Portland Civic Players productions, including The Wizard of Oz, Clue, and It’s a Wonderful Life. She has also participated in productions at Portland High School, such as Peter and the Starcatcher, as well as several Murder Mystery Dinners at The Red Mill. Logan graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design and Technical Theatre with an emphasis in sound. Her technical and creative experience includes productions such as Dreamgirls, Cats, and Much Ado About Nothing, and she is excited to return to directing once again.
