🎭 Meet the Directors of Summer Theater 2026! ☀️

We’re excited to introduce the incredible directors leading this year’s Portland Civic Players Summer Theater Program! These talented individuals are ready to help our young performers learn, grow, and shine on stage this summer.

From building confidence and creativity to making lifelong memories, our directors are passionate about creating a fun, welcoming, and inspiring experience for every student involved. 💛

Today we highlight Marriah Lawler!!!

Marriah is thrilled to be joining this year’s program as a director! Growing up, she was an active participant in Summer Theater and P*P productions, where her love for theater first began. While attending Grand Valley State University, she continued exploring that passion through classes in theater production and costume design. Outside of her professional life she enjoys crafty hobbies, taking walks with her dogs, and cozying up with a good book. For Marriah, directing is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with the Portland community while doing something she truly loves!

Today we highlight Logan Reeves!!!

Logan is a past Summer Theater thespian and director who has been involved in numerous Portland Civic Players productions, including The Wizard of Oz, Clue, and It’s a Wonderful Life. She has also participated in productions at Portland High School, such as Peter and the Starcatcher, as well as several Murder Mystery Dinners at The Red Mill. Logan graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design and Technical Theatre with an emphasis in sound. Her technical and creative experience includes productions such as Dreamgirls, Cats, and Much Ado About Nothing, and she is excited to return to directing once again.

Today we highlight Devann Hattis!

Devann is incredibly excited to return to her favorite program! After participating in Summer Theatre from 2002-2010 and directing from 2012-2022, Devann took a hiatus to obtain her MA in Theatre Education from the University of Northern Colorado. In addition to her work with Summer Theatre, Devann has also taught and directed drama at Big Rapids Middle School for the past ten years and co-founded a youth theatre program in the Big Rapids area based on her work at Summer Theatre. Through performing, directing, technical roles, and consulting, Devann has been involved in some way with over 100 productions (and counting). P*P’s Summer Theatre program will always be her favorite, and she is thrilled to be back!

We are sad to say that we are cancelling our P*P after Dark Performance. Those who have purchased tickets will be refunded. Please watch our Facebook for our upcoming summer theater performances and our fall production of SpongeBob the Musical.
