This Saturday, May 30th, Eldon T Jones is back!

Nationally recognized smooth jazz artist and electrifying festival performer, Jones moves hearts through his profoundly genuine playing and infectious groove. Last year’s Eldon T Jones concert blew the roof off, and we can’t wait to do it again! It is a true treasure to have Jones’s full band make the hall ring, and you won’t want to miss out.

When not playing nationally at spots like Capital Jazz Fest, or Vanport Jazz Festival, he often performs at the Oregon Symphony’s Gospel Christmas show and benefit concerts for local organizations. In 2017, World Arts Foundation recognized Jones with a Lifetime Achievement Award at their annual MLK Tribute for the blessing his music has been to the Portland community.

“All the wonderful music I hear inspires me to interpret my own life experience through music and share my ideas with the world,” Jones says about his drive to elate new audiences.

On Thursday, May 14th, The Old Church is proud to present our first collaborative merch launch and meet-and-greet feat. Velveeta Fondue!

As supporters and patrons of The Old Church, we all carry the flame to unite music, art, and community. Now you can memorialize this passion with our first ever Devotional Candle. Claim your flame here, and receive it at the commemorative event May 14th in our Cheshire Lounge (this is a free event, and candle purchase is not necessary for entry).

At this special launch party, the holier-than-swiss-cheese Patron Saint of Preservation celebrates her celestial calling with a brief reading followed by soothing, ambient music from clarinetist Todd Umhoefer. Enjoy snacks and drinks at our bar, peruse Ash Stone's "Say Cheese!" gallery exhibition, and mingle with the melty muse herself at this all ages gathering.

Reserve a piece of history now with this inaugural artist/venue collaboration Devotional Candle featuring St. Velveeta Fondue and we will see you May 14th!

More on Velveeta: Born in 1916, Velveeta Fondue resides in the Missouri Cheese Caves, also known as the Springfield Underground. She’s the All-American Big Dairy Heir who never takes a day off work. Velveeta is made of pasteurized prepared cheese product and preserved to ageless perfection with the finest fillers on this side of the Mississippi. A queen of Southern idioms and storytelling, Ms. Fondue serves as a muse for her daytime persona, artist Ash Stone.
