Staged!

Staged! Located in Portland, OR, Staged! produces stellar musical theatre and nurtures the talents of young people. We never put musicians in a pit. We Grow Artists.

We grow artists by focusing on these 3 things:
-Professional musical theatre productions
-Education & community outreach in the performing arts
-Pre-professional training to young artists through the S! Conservatory

The S! Conservatory is a sequential training program that follows the school year (Sept-June). Admission is by audition and interview only. Faculty and guest artists are second to non

e. The program is held at our artistic home, Artists Rep. We focus on contemporary composers in our mainstage productions and our in-home concerts ("Salons.") Past productions include VIOLET, SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD, BIG RIVER, PARADE, ABLAZE: an a ca****la musical thriller (world premiere); 13: the MUSICAL, THE SECRET GARDEN, and an all-student LES MISERABLES. Outreach/Education events for the community include the popular M(E)OWs ("musicals (entirely) in one weekend") for teens, Oregon's only true Summer Stock for youth, the Theatre Leadership Incubator for college students, and lively pre-show chats before every Sunday matinee performance ("Cerebral Mulch"). Staged! often brings nationally-known theatre artists to Portland to work with our students, including Jason Robert Brown, Jeff Whiting, Shoshana Bean, and Marc Kudisch.

How we will picture Rob Fishel: slicing deftly through one of Sondheim’s most complicated pieces, cuing the actors, keeping time with everyone’s rhythm, keeping us all together. A beaming smile from you meant that it was WORKING! Thank you for the music, your unsurpassed artistry, your friendship, your wit, your belief, and the grace you extended to everyone in your orbit.

Rest in peace. 💜💜💜

Lauren Steele. There are only a few opportunities left to catch this STAR doing just one of the things she does best. ❤️❤️❤️👑

ArtsWatch is raving about "Queens Girl in Africa" and star Lauren Steele's masterful portrayal of 19 truly unique characters:

"In a time when identity has become an abiding concern in our culture, Jennings’ Queens Girl plays seem like a particular treasure."

"Acting is something that Lauren Steele can do seriously...The script calls for quicksilver shifts in accent, affect, mood, language, body language; Steele never lets us see how much work must have gone into it all, so smooth and instant is every transition, so clearly delineated is each new voice and stance."

Don't miss your chance to see this wonderful performance in person. Get your tickets at www.clackamasrep.org or (503) 594-6047.

Tonight is the gallery opening for the exhibit honoring the works of Tim Stapleton. Included is the rendering of his beautiful design for the 2016 co-production of A Civil War Christmas we did with Artists Rep. The gallery will be up through early March. All are invited! ❤️

Join us tomorrow night (1/13) for the gallery opening reception of Beyond Memoriam: The Art & Legacy of Tim Stapleton on January 13 from 6-8pm.

Come immerse yourself in the work of Portland’s beloved set designer and visual artist Tim Stapleton. This exhibit at the Sherwood Center for the Arts honors his life and artistic legacy after passing away from the effects of ALS last year.

The featured pieces tell the stories of his life and give us a glimpse of his process as a scenic designer, from concept to realization. Specific works encapsulate Stapleton’s approach to healing—relating, in an abstract yet visceral way, to both his neurological problems and the traumas of his past. This show is free and open to the public, and will be on display through March 3, 2022.
