I have always been fascinated by stuff that moves. As an artist living in the Pacific Northwest, where the sweet-scented air is constantly twisting and twirling, I've pretty much found the perfect muse to inspire my swirlydirly adventure with mobiles. I enjoy bumping up against our relationship to place, particularly the place of nature in our lives, and this is reflected in the shapes I choose to
work with and the designs that emerge implying feathers layering on a wing, leaves rustling in the wind, or bubbles rising into the air. The results range from works of peaceful simplicity, featuring repetitive shapes spinning hypnotically on an air current, to whimsical jumbles of bright colors and bouncy motion that vibrate with energy and joy. All of my mobiles are hand cut, shaped, sanded, primed, painted, and assembled one at a time. No templates, no mass production, and - despite the rumors - no team of elves. It's just me in the shop with the spirit of my shop cat, Buddy, enjoying good tunes while creating some fun art for you.
