After 7 lovely years playing in many places outside Northern California, I'm returning for one concert, tonight, July 22 in Novato! Details are below.

When I was living in NorCal, I'd often have 100-150 of you lovely folks show up to my concerts. I don't expect that many tonight, but it would be SO lovely to see a bunch of you out there.

The concert is FREE/Give-what-you-want, y'all. Common Sanctuary is hosting. Registration is in the comments if you'd like to RSVP in advance. I'd love to see you there.

Every song is a conversation.

Even if it’s full of only your ideas, it becomes a conversation when another person hears it. The only songs that aren’t conversations are songs you never share with anyone. And even those are a conversation with yourself. For example, the song Fly is a conversation with the child in me whose dreams didn’t let them give up.

Once that becomes clear, things get really interesting as a songwriter. Who are you talking to? Who do you want to talk to? And what are THEY saying. That’s a big one. To let that matter.

To set your songs free, embrace the conversation. It never had to be only about you. (It never was.)
