Sweet story from today...
I popped into Trader Joe’s, and when I got to the checkout, my cashier says, ‘Hey, I have a question of the day for you!’
I was like, ‘Oh cool sure, what is it?’
‘What historical event that’s happened during your life still feels super present in your memory?’
I thought for a second and said, ‘Oh, definitely the 1989 earthquake in San Francisco. Right before game #3 of the World Series!’
She goes, ‘OMG me too! I used to live there!’
We were so stoked and swapped stories of where we were and what we were doing when it hit, only to realize we actually grew up a couple blocks away from each other (except I was Outer Sunset 🤘🏻 and she was Inner Sunset - IYKYK) and had all these funny things in common. It also made me think about my childhood house and the eucalyptus tree out front and the way the fog was so thick in the avenues in the mornings but would always roll out for a little afternoon sunshine. So many things rolled around in my mind.
Total needle-in-a-haystack moment and really made my day, but also allowed me to just remember. I’m such a nostalgic tiny moments kinda gal - so ordinary yet so special. Must be why I love flowers so much… super simple, but with the sweetest, most meaningful impact 🌸
