Looking for some things to dive deep into during this time? Miss [Storage] in person? We're working on getting a digital version to you, but in the interim writer Douglas W. Milliken reads aloud from the play, plus his gorgeous new novel in the first episode of his reading series, Quarantine Story Time. A perfect rainy Sunday listen.

A live reading series showcasing original fiction by author Douglas W. Milliken, presented in his home during these confusing days of COVID-19 self-isolation...

Friends, we worked for a year on [Storage], and we made a beautiful, challenging, incredible thing. We built a little family around The Unit and The Stuff. Most importantly, we asked some really tough questions and saw the world in a new way. We loved this show.

But we love our community more. It is with heavy hearts that we're calling off the rest of the run. We're so sad to see it go, but as so many other organizations are calling off their events, we feel it important to do the same. The health and well-being of the most at-risk is much more important.

All shows starting TONIGHT will be cancelled. Unfortunately, we are not able to re-mount the run as the building will begin construction in a few weeks.

We are working hard on finding a way to make [Storage] accessible online (and if you have a camera and want to help...message us!). So stay tuned!

Until then, if you need a refund we'll give it to you. Feel free to leave it as a donation to the company, or give the refund to another organization who might need it more.

Thank you for those of you who joined us or wanted to join us.

With love and pizza boxes,
Bare Portland

Meet the Makers! Who is this smart, kind, zany and super cool human....it's [Storage] Intimacy Coordinator Ella Mock!!! We're so grateful Ella was able to hop on board to help direct some moments of intimacy in the show. They bring experience as a theatre educator, consent educator with Speak About It and a student of Theatre of the Opressed. They've been an amazing contributor of gentle guidance and thoughtful feedback and a wonderful and enthusiastic sharer of the show. So grateful to work with them on this and many other community projects.

Dear friends, We are currently continuing performances of [Storage] at least until Sunday, March 15. We will keep patrons and fans informed about next week's performances, and of any changes to this week's shows should that become necessary. Bare Portland has been watching government and health official recommendations and following other community partners' examples when it comes to events. Our audience size is no more than 30 people, and we have been sanitizing and cleaning high-touch surfaces for each performance. We strongly encourage you to make the choice that feels right for you when it comes to public gatherings and respect your decision either way. If you are sick, please stay home. We are willing to offer folks refunds for their tickets, but encourage you to either leave your tickets as a donation to help us pay our team and/or take your refund and donate it to local health safety net organizations like Preble Street or Greater Portland Health as this conflict will affect the most vulnerable of our community most deeply. Please stay tuned for future updates and support the artists in your community as best you can. šŸ’™šŸ’™šŸ’™
Love you all!

Meet the Makers! Designer, Dana Hopkins, built our massive set and installation in a month with the help of some seriously amazing humans, including Zoe and Joe (pictured here working their magic on packing this UHaul) and Austin (who has escaped cameras the whole process). Zoe is a clever and crafty light and set designer and dramaturg around town, Joe is podcast afficianado, zero waste guru and facilities manager at Bowdoin, and Austin is a talented printmaker in the midcoast. Thanks for being the behind-the-scenes helping hands (and confident power tool users!) that made this dream a reality, friends! You're such an important part of the [Storage] team!

Beyond touched by Megan Grumbling's beautiful review of [Storage] in the Portland Phoenix today. "These four actors are electric, protean, and all-in....Bare Portland’s exuberant, beautiful, bonkers, experiment recognizes and affirms us as those multitudes-containing selves, the profane and sacred collections, that we all are."

We're back in The Unit tonight, and we still have tickets for Friday and Sunday's performance!

Take a read and grab your tickets. We've got 5 shows coming up, Weds-Sun!

For a year, the group probed the contents of every old notebook, every receipt, every creepy horror movie from the stranger’s VHS collection. They weren’t looking to pawn off someone else’s estate. Instead, they used the stranger’s possessions to tell a story of their own.

Come see what we've done. Come see what we've made. A few tickets are available online or at the door for tonight's performance, but only a very few. Come see what audiences have been describing as "a delight" "the most relevant thing I've seen all year" and "this is going to take me some time to really unpack."
