makerspace providing members 24/7/365 secure access to a wood shop, metal shop with blacksmithing, welding fabrication, and metal casting; textiles studio with screen printing, auto-embroidery and leather working; stained glass studio, Tech hub with CNC and 3D printing; dark room for film and photography, and more! Our in-house Design + Build team is a licensed contractor [OR CCB # 243853] and our

expansive facilities enable us to accept unique commissions of all sizes, from bespoke art to construction. Spearheaded by two women, the D+B team also provides employment opportunities and skills training to formerly incarcerated artists. We offer private studio spaces for rent to business owners and hobbyists alike, and host classes, art galleries, and various events. For potential clients commissioning art or industrial prototyping, we're a one-stop-shop for any custom fabrication project; and for local artists, we provide the collective resources to flourish through creative collaboration. Our Guild Hall houses the physical means and collective spirit to invest in a rewarding, sustainable career in the arts and industries.

It's almost time: Join us for the First Friday Art Walk at Past Lives Makerspace THIS Friday, 9/4, where we'll be showing work from this month's Featured Artist, Alex Eason.

Swing by to meet Alex — AND decorate your own wooden bookmark to take home!

Alex Eason is a woodworker based in Portland, Oregon. He produces functional pieces that showcase his own style. His work is inspired by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and the diverse cultures of the people living here. His woodworking is inspired by his Japanese grandmother, and Asian influence shows throughout the collection.

Love shooting photos and video? Know your way around a Reel? Want access to 27,000 square feet of tools, workshops, artists, makers, and general creative mayhem?

Past Lives Makerspace is looking for a content creator to join our social media team on a work-trade basis.

In exchange for 10 hours of content creation per month, you’ll receive a Past Lives membership ($250/month value) — plus the chance to create some seriously fun portfolio content along the way.

You’ll help us capture:
• Classes and events
• Wildly cool maker projects
• Our shops, tools and creative spaces
• The artists and makers who bring Past Lives to life
• All the weird, wonderful stuff that happens around here

You should be comfortable shooting and editing social content and have a good eye for storytelling. iPhone footage is absolutely welcome — and if you have your own camera gear, also great!

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is genuinely excited to join the Past Lives community.

Figure Drawing at Past Lives

THIS Sunday, 8/23

Come draw a model in clothes, partially clothed, or in costume. There might be a vase, an umbrella, or cat ears. We never really know ahead of time, but it's always fun and great practice. Bring a prop if you want, and we might use it!

5 - 1 min poses
1 - 5 min pose
1 - 10 min pose
1 - 15 min pose
2 - 30 minute poses
=95 minutes plus breaks

We have small tables, chairs, and a couple easels available, first come, first serve. Come early to guarantee a chair and good spot. All unscented media is welcome - please bring a drop cloth if you are using something drippy and clean up messes if needed.

Doors will open 20 minutes before the session. You are welcome to come late or leave early if needed. Snacks and drinks to share are welcome. We will likely have some music in the background.

Non-members of PastLives will be asked to sign a standard waiver the first time you come.

No photography permitted without arranging with the staff and model ahead of time.

Sessions are:
$12 per session. Please bring extra to tip the model.
Art modeling is hard; we highly encourage tipping the model!
Sessions can be prepaid online or paid at the session (cash/Venmo)

Come make art with us! Our Offline Art Social will take place on August 22nd, 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the Past Lives Makerspace Gallery.

Work on your own creative activity privately or socially, OR if you are looking for to experiment with art, join the big table where Bonnie will guide a collaborative project.
You can also just come hang out and enjoy the atmosphere and the live music.

Hello Portland creatives (and creative-curious folks! :) We’re excited to announce this event that’s open to one and all! Come join us for our Offline Art Social at Past Lives, 8/22 at 7pm!

What:
Step away from the screen and into a space where creativity and community come naturally. Bring your own project, join a collaborative mixed-media prompt, or simply relax and soak in the atmosphere while enjoying live, instrumental acoustic music. Whether you come to create, connect, or just be present, Offline Art Social is a place to unwind, make something meaningful, and share the experience with others. Food, drink, and art supplies available!

Writers, drawers, painters, knitters, stitchers, sketchers, and everyone else are welcome!
