Me: I need to use the doll bodies I have before I get new ones
Thrift store: Ok, but here are three little clowns in one bag…

So of course, I got the clowns! The two skull-faced clowns have soft bodies and bean bag bellies, and, dare I say - they’re actually pretty cute! I only needed to do slight outfit mods (neck ruffs for both, suspenders, pompoms, and hat for the cowboy) before I was happy with them.

The OTHER clown….he’s terrifying. He’s sculpted from clay, I think, with crumpled cardboard (?) for clothes. To make him better/worse, I made him ermine skull balloons.

The black and white clown and the one with the skull balloons have already sold, but the cowboy clown will be available today at the . Come and get him before he rides off into the sunset!

Today is the first day of the and I’ll be bringing some AWESOME wet specimens! I’ll have a raccoon heart and lungs displayed in a gumball machine-shaped jar, a HUGE fluffy black rabbit, a mouse, and more (not pictured - a bobcat heart, sea urchin, and a small sea cucumber)!

The rabbit is really cool - photos don’t do him justice. His fluff hides them pretty well, but when he died, he had wounds/scars from other rabbits, including a bite that punctured his ear. He’s so big that I struggled to find a container big enough to hold him. His fur floats in the alcohol, and because he’s so fluffy, he becomes a void, with his fluff filling the jar to the edges. With his white eyes, he looks almost supernatural. I’ve been calling him “Omen.”

The mouse (and the sea life specimens, not pictured) came from an estate sale for a retired science teacher. I rejarred most of the specimens, since most were in jars too big for them, and I added some marbles to the base to bring some color and whimsy to the little mouse.

Come check these guys out at the Cryptid Expo! Hope to see you there!

I just finished making a TON of keytures! They’re made from scrap fur, glass eyes, vintage keys, and little plastic animals. The ones with massive white manes are made from badger fur and are incredibly soft. My kitchen is now covered in little bits of fur, but it was worth it! I’ll be bringing these little guys to on 4/18-4/19.

If you have any small plastic animals that you’d be willing to “sacrifice” to art, bring them to Oddmall! I’m bringing a bunch of fun stuff, specifically for this type of trade, including cool rocks, shells, small bones, tiny cowboy hats, and more!

I’ve come to really enjoy making clowns! This was the most involved outfit that I’ve made to date. The original clown doll had its feet broken off, so I put the base outfit (a baggy rainbow jumpsuit) on a similarly sized doll. The doll was shorter, so I gathered the suit around the waist and used some fantastic ribbon from Fabrics for Less in Renton (you have to go there if you haven’t already!) to make a cummerbund. I also opted to shorten the sleeves and legs, and used a different ribbon, which almost perfectly matched the fabric pattern, to make the cuffs. I made the shoes from ribbon and leather, crafted a cravat from lace, made a cane, and decorated a hat to match the clown’s dapper attire.

I’ll be bringing this fanciful fellow to !

Do you make weird art, or want to enable myself (and others) on our quest to make weird art? I’ll have a Body Part Swap station (doll parts only, I am not a surgeon) at my booth at on 4/18-4/19. I’m bringing doll bodies/body parts that don’t work for my crafts, which can be yours in exchange for parts that I do need (doll arms, eyes, small plastic animals, etc). Or, if you have dolls or plastic toys that you don’t mind…sacrificing…in the name of art (yes, I have been likened to Sid from Toy Story) you are welcome to take some goodies from my treasure chest - I have a bunch of cool rocks, old keys, shells, small bones, pages from an old medical book, and more.

If you find something you want but can’t trade, you can purchase items, but that’s far less fun.

What I’m looking for:
-Doll arms or hands of any type (especially Barbie arms)
-Glass eyes or doll eyes (not cabochon, googly, or plastic)
-Doll wigs
-Realistic plastic animals, ideally 1”- 5” in size (no cartoon/movie characters)
-Weird vintage rubber doll heads

Find me in space B13!

I may have found an actually haunted doll. This is the most horrifying doll I’ve found. I think the doll is supposed to be crying “mama,” but this thing WAILS. It has the power to summon animals (they swarmed me to find the source of the sound). It also, however, speaks to them on a primal level (I’m betting it sounds like “dying small mammal”) and drives the cats to violence. Sputnik was ready to commit infanticide (the crying mechanism is in the doll’s butt, which is why he keeps attacking that spot). The cats ended up play fighting each other while sitting on me, which scratched up my legs. Persephone thought it’d be fun to bite her “brother’s” face. And my hand. And my arm. (To be fair, this is her love/play/everything language. I moved elsewhere to edit this video, and she followed me, seemed to meow back at the video, and again thought it’d be fun to chew on me.

So because I love you all, value my limbs, and don’t want to encourage Sputnik to maul small children, I’ll be bringing this maybe-actually-cursed-this-time doll to where you can adopt her for yourself or bestow her on an unsuspecting friend.

Also, let me know how your pets react to this sound!
