Did you hear about the surprise snow storm in Alberta Park this August?! 😉 As part of our “Frigid” camp, dancers solved a mystery by connecting hidden clues, using dancing and chanting to unite the elements, save the park, and culminating with a visit from The Ice Queen herself ❄️ 👑 Good times and pointed toes were had by all! Enroll your kiddo for an upcoming weekly Ballet class- next session is Halloween-themed!

This year’s Covid-Conscious Dance Camp was Princess themed, including a visit from Rapunzel 💓 Dancers had a lovely time learning choreography from “Moana” and “Princess and the Frog” while playing a plethora of movement games, dancing a more affirming Mirror Mirror Chant, and stretching their dragon wings with the children’s classic “Paper Bag Princess”. It’s so special to offer an immersive art experience in a way that feels safe to these families✨🩰👑🐉👯‍♀️🧚

“Mirror mirror on the wall, it doesn’t matter if I’m short or tall. If I have skinny legs or my body’s wide, it only matters who I am inside” ..Feminist Princess Camp is always so affirming! Dancers learned choreography featuring Moana and Tiana, danced out the progressive “Paper Bag Princess”, created Kingdoms and the rules governing them, and soaked their feet on warm days.. all while learning how to be a good Princess/Prince. Can you believe they didn’t need a ballgown or a castle to be good leaders after all?!

There is one more camp with space August 4th through 8th.. in Ballet-based “Frigid” we follow two sisters and their magical snow creature (😉you picking up what I’m putting down?!) as we solve a mystery and save Alberta Park! Www.fireflydancepdx.com to register!

“Movie Musical Madness” was the first Firefly Dance Camp of the summer.. and a blast and a half! Students learned choreography in Ballet, Hiphop, and Contemporary -as well as creating a piece collaboratively! Some even chose to have speaking lines in our handmade show!
