Maine House Of Comedy "A funny place to call home" established in 2022. Founded by Marcus Cardona. With the pandemic striking in 2020 Empire Comedy Club closed its doors.

"A FUNNY PLACE TO CALL HOME" was the slogan of the indie venue Brooklyn House of Comedy in Bedstuy in 2019 coined by comedienne and founder of the Black Women In Comedy Festival Joanna Briley. It was a creative space managed by comedians with the intention of growing talent and being a home for comedians. The history of comedy in Portland, Maine has been through a journey but very much kept alive

by the local independent comedians and producers. In 2012, the Portland Maine Comedy Connection closed its doors which marked the end of Maine's dedicated comedy club. In 2020 Lucas Salisbury transitioned a second floor theater space on Congress Street known as Empire Kitchen and Restaurant into Empire Comedy Club. However it sent Buxton, Maine comedian Marcus Cardona back to home to Maine in which a great partnership with Thompson's Point to keep comedy alive and bring new energy to the scene creating the 11x sold out outdoor comedy series, Cabin Fever. Instilled by his experience as assistant manager at Brooklyn House of Comedy and producer of numerous shows in New York City's comedy scene and working with live comedy show franchise Don't Tell Comedy. 2022 has marked another chapter of Portland, Maine comedy as all the work has brought attention to Portland, Maine as the next big comedy city. Marcus Cardona in partnership with Free Street Restaurant and Bar present to you MAINE HOUSE OF COMEDY "a funny place to call home." Bringing some of the best national headliners and rising stars in comedy both from near and afar.

Lila Sparks is a Massachusetts based comedian, originally from Connecticut. Ok ORIGINALLY from Bolivia. Lila uses a combination of high-energy act outs and vulnerability to tell stories about her experiences with being adopted, married, divorced, going to rehab, seeing Phish, and everything in-between! Crowds love her for her authenticity and charisma. Lila performs regularly around New England. She’s been seen at The Grisly Pear, Don’t Tell Comedy, and most recently The Stand!

Maine House of Comedy “a funny place to call home” in collaboration with Thompson’s Point () is proud to present the return of CABIN FEVER COMEDY series on FRIDAY NOVEMBER 21ST and returning to Portland, Maine our headliner JOSHUA STOKES

JOSHUA STOKES () returning to Maine who headlined EMPIRE COMEDY LIVES as one of the first comedians to grace Empire Comedy Club’s stage after it’s closure during the pandemic, Josh Stokes, is a comedian from Houston who is now based out of Brooklyn. He has had the privilege of working alongside amazing comedians such as Liz Miele, Kyle Kinane, Will Sylvince, Stavros Halkias and Ms. Pat. Josh also co-hosts the Hard Fried History Podcast with Henry Price. A 2018 Semi Finalist in NBC’s Standup for Diversity. He can be seen working across the country and has appeared in festivals like the San Francisco Comedy Competition, Come and Take It Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, the West End Comedy Festival and the Limestone Comedy Festival to name a few!

Maine House of Comedy “a funny place to call home” in collaboration with Thompson’s Point () is proud to present the return of CABIN FEVER COMEDY series on FRIDAY OCTOBER 24TH and returning to Portland, Maine our headliner DARA JEMMOTT

DARA JEMMOTT () is a Brooklyn based comedian, host, voice over artist and actress. Dara has been entertaining audiences on stages since she was three years old. She performs all around the country, and has even taken her talents to the UK and Spain. Dara was most recently featured in the 2022 Katra Film Series for “Hysterical Justice” (Series Winnner) Her performance in the short, “Where’s My White Privilege?” landed her in Just For Laughs - Eat My Shorts (2021).The short was also featured in the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival (2022), Toronto Black Film Festival (2021), Houston Comedy Film Festival, Hip Hop Film Festival (2021). Dara won Best Actor- Gold Category, in the 2021 Best Actors Awards New York. Dara has also been featured in the Black Women in Comedy Festival and BET, and a standout on America’s Got Talent. When not performing, Dara trains young students and performers in stand up, acting and improv, in numerous NYC schools through Stand Up Girls and Little Humans/Big Dreams!
