Join us for an evening of old-time square dancing, live string band music, and community every Monday at The Showdown Saloon.

Caller will guide dancers through every step of the evening, making this event accessible and fun for everyone—from experienced dancers to those stepping onto the dance floor for the very first time. With live music providing the soundtrack, expect an energetic night filled with traditional tunes, laughter, and plenty of dancing.

No partner is necessary, and no previous dance experience is required. Every dance is taught and called throughout the evening, creating a welcoming atmosphere where everyone can participate.

Square dancing has long been a community tradition, bringing people together through music, movement, and shared experience. Whether you’re looking to try something new, meet new people, or simply enjoy a night of live music and dancing, this is an event for all ages of dancers and skill levels.

Whether you’re stepping onto the dance floor for the first time or looking to brush up on your moves, Two-Step Tuesdays is the perfect place to learn, dance, and connect with Portland’s country dance community.

Each week begins with a beginner-friendly lesson designed to get you comfortable with the fundamentals of two-step. No partner or prior experience is required—just bring your dancing shoes and a willingness to give it a try. After the lesson, a live band takes the stage and the dance floor opens up for a full evening of music, movement, and community.

From first-timers to seasoned dancers, everyone is welcome. Please refer to our website for next weeks featured band & caller as they change weekly!

Fresh off the continued success of her debut album “Wishbone,” Trinity Jane has emerged as one of Portland’s most exciting new voices, blending Appalachian roots, indie folk, alternative country, and raw, emotionally charged songwriting. Shady Pines Radio and Pickathon Present: Cover the People ~ An Evening of Beck and Ween Covers to Benefit Blanchet House on November 6 at The Showdown Saloon. A night dedicated to two of the most wonderfully weird and wildly influential bands in alternative music, all while supporting a great cause.

Pickathon Presents Matt Heckler with Clarence Gallagher and Leo Crafft on September 11.

A restless multi-instrumentalist and storyteller, Matt Heckler blends Appalachian mountain music, early bluegrass, Eastern European folk, and Irish balladry into a raw, deeply immersive live experience. His latest releases include “No More For To Roam” and the new EP “Low Road Texas Blues,” and his current 2026 tour brings that unmistakable grit back to the road.

Joining him are Clarence Gallagher, an itinerant guitarist and banjo picker whose songs draw from a life spent on the road, logging camps, saloons, and the American West, and Seattle folk songwriter Leo Crafft, whose haunting melodies and deep vocals bring a dark, traditional edge to contemporary Americana. Crafft released “Wading Through The Water” in 2026.
