Near & Far, we join this call for support & sharing for this creator of art…
Dear Community,
We are reaching out to you on behalf of a local Black woman and talented artist from Seattle who has recently fallen victim to a heinous knife attack and robbery. This devastating incident has left her traumatized and struggling to recover from the loss she has endured. This is her story:
My name is Shina, I am an artist from West Africa living in Seattle. Recently, I experienced a horrifying incident where I was violently attacked and robbed. The attackers not only took away my belongings but also my sense of security and peace of mind.
Among the things stolen from me were my car, which I relied on for transportation, my purse containing important identification and personal items, and my art supplies and art pieces, which are crucial for my creative expression and livelihood. Losing these possessions has had a significant impact on my ability to function and pursue my passion as an artist.
I also urge everyone to remain vigilant and committed to promoting safety and justice in our community. No one should have to endure the fear and trauma that I experienced. By coming together and supporting one another, we can create a safer environment for everyone to thrive.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to my story and considering any assistance you can provide. Your kindness and generosity will make a significant difference in my life as I work towards healing and rebuilding.
In the aftermath of this traumatic event, she finds herself in need of assistance, and that is why we are reaching out to you, our community. We are humbly asking for your help, donations, and funds to aid in her recovery from this devastating incident.
If you are in a position to contribute, whether it be through financial assistance, replacement art supplies, (acrylic paint, brushes, easels, or canvas) or any other form of support, please consider reaching out to us. We are grateful for any help that can alleviate the burden caused by this incident.
