FLY FISHIN & TYING / MAY 16 —
A full day of fly fishing for rainbow trout at Frog Lake on mt hood with expert Nick Parish of
Study the water — the insects, the movement and life happening just below the surface. From there, we learn how to tie flies by hand: small precise tools made from animal hair, feathers, and other natural materials, each one to designed to mimic what the fish are already eating.
With bait assembled pond side will cast on and learn to fly fish.
Guiding the day is fly fishing writer and educator, Nick Parish, who will introduce the fundamentals of mindful fly fishing, how anglers create flies to match natural food sources, casting basics, fishing scenarios and essential regulations / safety information. We’ll put those skills to work in a unique natural setting, searching for stocked rainbow trout. No experience necessary.
Includes casting fishing/ fly tying demo, gear loan, camp coffee, and lunch.
