(2) // “Suspended in Time” is part of the 2025 mixed-media collection. This piece features the Portland Troll “Ole Bolle,” created by Danish artist — maker of magical giants that inhabit sites around the world. Dambo’s work celebrates the intersection of art, nature, storytelling, and recycling; each troll carries a narrative shaped by the artist’s process and the activity the troll appears to be undertaking.

“Ole Bolle” lives atop the Nordic Northwest building in Portland, OR. When I first encountered the troll, countless stories came to mind — which is why I created two pieces inspired by him: “A Gentle Visit” (2024) and this new work (2025). As part of my artistic practice, I seek out these unique places and create personal interpretations of possible scenarios.

This collage captures the enchantment of reading: the sensation of being transported to infinite worlds. Here, the troll seems to peer through the roof to share that moment — or perhaps the troll is itself a character in the book’s story.

What do you see in this collage? Share your stories — I’d love to read them.

In the last year, as part of my new series, one piece stands out more than the rest: “I FEEL YOU, PAPA.” Many people connect with this collage on multiple levels.

Today, as I was opening the gallery on this beautiful sunny day, I noticed that one of my glass mobiles in the window was creating a prismatic effect, producing a rainbow that landed specifically between the two characters—the strong connection between the papa and daughter. The rainbow symbolizes their multicolored bond.

This moment is just one example of the magic that happens in the gallery and a wonderful reminder of all the beautiful things occurring around us if we take the time to pay attention.

This year feels like an awakening, and I sense that my artwork reflects my journey. For the past few years, I have placed art at the bottom of my priority list, channeling most of my energy into the gallery and various projects that steered me away from my creative path. There’s a powerful concept rooted in biology, philosophy, and spirituality suggesting that humans experience significant physical and personal changes in roughly seven-year cycles. In 2019, I began a transformative cycle that radically changed everything in my life, prompting me to immerse myself in the process of expansion. Now, I find myself nearing the end of a significant rebuilding phase.

In 2026, I am ready to focus on creating more art and bringing new ideas to life. While I won’t announce all the projects in the pipeline just yet, I can no longer wait. I’ve come to understand that nothing needs to be perfect for me to express myself—I’m ready to embrace new avenues of creativity. Being “ready to fly” doesn’t mean everything has to be perfectly aligned; waiting for perfection is merely an excuse. ¡LISTO PARA VOLAR!

SAVE THE DATE! This weekend and next, I will be participating in Portland Open Studios 2025 on October 11, 12, 18, and 19, from 10 AM to 5 PM.

I invite you to immerse yourself in this unique opportunity to explore the studios of many artists throughout the Portland Metro area. Each artist opens their studio—the place where the magic happens—to visitors, collectors, and friends, providing inspiration and support for their work.

I’ll be opening my mini studio at the Blind Insect Gallery, where you can view my latest artworks from the current exhibition, “Unfinished Adventures: Echoes from Beyond Neverland!” I look forward to engaging in meaningful conversations about my storytelling artwork and sharing how I create collages inspired by dreams and childhood memories.

Join me in celebrating creativity on October 11, 12, 18, and 19, at studio #79 in the Blind Insect Gallery!
