Show Me Your Venus

Show Me Your Venus Show Me Your Venus has inspired our group’s most recent works; works that are grounded in the aspe Show Me Your Venus is our first titled and themed show.

Too often, art is hung on walls that close it off from the world. Its voice is shushed in quiet galleries, or silenced by the aloof air of the people who surround it. It cannot reach those who yearn for it but do not know; it cannot speak to those the work is yearning to whisper to, shout at, to console, anger, to motivate. Our group of artists would like to offer our diverse table of styles, subj

ect matter, and use of materials to encourage all whom we encounter to create. Its focus is the foundation of our work: dedication to our craft. The Venus is a historic figure, much used throughout the evolution of art. She is the artistic symbol of creation, from the generously plump, life-giving figure of the Venus of Willendorf, circa 27,000 b.c., to Alexandros of Antioch’s undeniably robust Venus de Milo, to Botticelli’s beautiful and iconic Birth of Venus, which has been referenced by shows like SpongeBob Squarepants and The Simpson’s. Show Me Your Venus has inspired all of our most recent works; works that are grounded in the very same aspects- a main course of creation, generous doses of figure and form, robust concepts, beautifully executed references with a pinch or two of satire.

Here are some snipets of the work Mikaela S. Lombardo is working on for Show Me Your Venus, an artists' exhibition. She enjoys soft boiled eggs and big tomes, but hasn't much time to read these days. She's focusing on her art, taking lessons in humility, and coordinating her outfits.
