Madcap Melodrama is an association of Theatre Creators who specialize in voice-over and foley sound to bring vivid life to compelling tales using old-time live radio theatre techniques. Modern adaptations of popular melodramas from the 19th Century find new meaning in this playful, humorous and gender-fluid format! Ki Gottberg, Founder and Artistic Director of Madcap Melodrama, writes, directs, an
d acts. A graduate of the University of Washington Professional Actor Training Program and a member of Actors Equity/SAG/AFTRA, Ki has performed and directed around the Northwest. Her plays have also been produced in New York, LA and San Francisco, as well as in Seattle at The Empty Space, New City Theater, Intiman, and The Seattle Repertory Theatre. She was Artistic Director of the Merc Playhouse in Twisp, Wa., to which Seattle University toured shows for 5 years. A recipient of numerous awards, commissions, and grants including the national $25,000 NEA/TCG Individual Artist Fellowship and a local Artist Trust Fellowship for playwriting, Ki was professor and the first Chair of Performing Arts/Arts Leadership at Seattle University, retiring in 2022. After 35 years, starting as a part-time adjunct when Seattle University had no theater space, she is proud to have been instrumental in building the Theatre program there. Ki is grateful for all the art she has been privileged to create with colleagues over the years, and plans to keep on keepin’ on here in PT.
